Brisco, British Columbia
Brisco is an unincorporated community on the east shore of the Columbia River, in the East Kootenay region of southeastern British Columbia. The locality, on BC Highway 95, is by road about north of Cranbrook and southeast of Golden. Name origin The adoption most likely derives from the Brisco Range, the name recorded on an 1863 map. Capt. Arthur Brisco, 11th Hussars, a hero of the Charge of the Light Brigade, was a friend of John Palliser, whom he joined on the 1858–59 expedition. Daniel (Danny) Campbell, who arrived in the late 1880s, was the inaugural postmaster 1895–1898; 1901–1920. The 1898 voters' list combined all residents as Galena. The 1907 list comprised separate sections for Spillimacheen, Brisco, and Galena (the undefined area spanning the gap). Initially called Columbia Valley, the post office was renamed Brisco in 1899. Brisco, Cumbria
Brisco or Birksceugh is a village in the civil parish of St Cuthbert Without, in the Carlisle district, in the county of Cumbria, England. It is located a few miles south of the city of Carlisle, near Junction 42 of the M6 motorway. There is St Ninian's well in the village. In the Imperial Gazetteer of England and Wales of 1870-72 the township had a population of 323. History The name "Brisco" means "wood of the (Strathclyde) Britons", Brisco was recorded as "Brethesco" in the 1203 Pipe Rolls. The village is one of the possible sources of the surname Brisco. Brisco, Indiana
Brisco (or Briscoe) was a small town in Pine Township, Warren County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. It began in the 1850s and gained a one-room school in 1856, which operated until 1929. In 1930 the school building became a general store run for more than 50 years by local resident Jim Marquess. Never more than a tiny hamlet, Brisco almost entirely disappeared during the 20th century. A cemetery northeast of town still bears the name. British Alexander Mitchell (born June 28, 1982), who performs under the stage name Brisco, is an American rapper. Early life Mitchell grew up in Miami, Florida. His mother died when he was 9, and four years later, at age 13, his brother was killed in a car accident; he then migrated to Opa-Locka, Florida. At age 14, the troubled teen's cousin introduced him to his best friend, E-Class, the founder of Poe Boy Entertainment. Music career Mitchell met Poe Boy Entertainment founder E-Class in 1997. E-Class encouraged him to express his life hardships through rap. In 2006, Mitchell, under stage name Brisco, did guest performances on tracks from DJ Khaled's '' Listennn... the Album'' ("The Future of Dade") and Rick Ross's ''Port of Miami'' ("I'm a G", also with Lil Wayne). Brisco Baronets
The Brisco Baronetcy, of Crofton Place in the County of Cumberland, is a title in the Baronetage of Great Britain. It was created on 11 July 1782 for John Brisco, with remainder, failing male issue of his own, to his brother Horton and the heirs male of his body. Brisco had earlier served as Sheriff of Cumberland. The title descended from father to son until the death of his great-great-grandson, the fifth Baronet, in 1922. The late Baronet was succeeded by his first cousin, the sixth Baronet. He died childless and was succeeded by his first cousin, the seventh Baronet. This line of the family failed on the death of the latter's son, the eighth Baronet, in 1995.
