Brisbane City Football Club is an Australian semi-professional football club based in Newmarket, Brisbane, Queensland. Founded in 1952, the club competed in the National Soccer League until the 1986 season where they were relegated back to State League Competition. Brisbane City competed in the National Premier Leagues Queensland from 2013, until they were relegated to the lower tier Football Queensland Premier League with one match remaining in the 2020 season. Home matches are played at Spencer Park. National Soccer League In 1977 City became a foundation member of the National Soccer League. City's first match was a 0–1 defeat to Marconi at Perry Park on 3 April 1977 in front of a crowd of 5,214. Despite struggling in the first two seasons, including finishing bottom, they won the NSL Cup in those two years. Spencer Park, Queensland
Spencer Park (currently known as Corporate Travel Management Stadium) is a football stadium located in the suburb of Newmarket, north of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. It is home to Football Queensland Premier League team Brisbane City FC. The stadium, while officially holding 10,000, seats only 3,000 under the grandstand, the ''Gino Merlo Stand''. The grandstand is mainly concrete steps with a small number of seats in the middle of the stand. There are also corporate boxes at the back of the grandstand. There are 4 entrances to the grandstand, 2 on each end and 2 in the middle, which are directly above the home and away changing room tunnels. The entrances are locked on FQPL matches. Brisbane City charge for stadium entry at the gates, ($2 children $5 adult $10 family). There is also concrete steps for seating below the terrace outside the clubhouse. Michael Zullo
Michael Zullo (born 11 September 1988) is an Australian professional footballer who last played as a left-back for Sydney FC of the A-League. Club career After being signed by the former Brisbane Roar coach Frank Farina on a two-year contract, Zullo played five of the six opening games of the season, coming on as a substitute. Curran Lawrance Singh Ferns (born 6 July 1993 in Darwin) is an Australian–born Malaysian professional footballer. Ferns is a central midfielder but also can play as a centre-back. William Wilkinson (born 4 April 1951) was a Scottish footballer who began his football career in 1967–68 playing for Dumbarton. His career breakthrough came in the 1971–72 season, making 23 appearances and contributing to Dumbarton's promotion to Scottish Football League Division One. John McVeigh (footballer)
John McVeigh (born 25 January 1957) is a Scottish former football player and manager. Playing career McVeigh started his career with Airdrieonians in 1975, before moving to Australia to play for Brisbane City. He stayed in Australia for a year, before moving back to Scotland to play for Clyde, where he spent four years, captaining the side on several occasions. He had spells at Hamilton Academical, Kilmarnock and Falkirk, before retiring from the game and becoming a coach at Falkirk.
