Brilliant High School was a public high school in Brilliant, Ohio, United States. Established in the 1880s, the school was home to the Brilliant Blue Devils athletic teams. In 1972, the school merged with nearby Smithfield High School to form Buckeye North High School. Brilliant, Ohio
Brilliant is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in eastern Jefferson County, Ohio, Jefferson County, Ohio, United States, along the Ohio River. It was named after the Brilliant Glass factory that once was located in the town. The population was 1,317 as of the 2020 United States Census, 2020 census. It is part of the Weirton–Steubenville metropolitan area. Brilliant was formerly incorporated as a village, but it disincorporated on November 24, 1993. History Brilliant was laid out in 1819 by western Virginia statesman Philip Doddridge (Virginia politician), Philip Doddridge under the name "Philipsburgh". The location was considered significant to commerce as it was the convergence of many roads in close proximity to the Ohio River and parallel to the Wellsburg, West Virginia, Wellsburg wharf. Buckeye Local High School is a public high school in Connorville, Ohio, United States, near Rayland. It is the only secondary school in the Buckeye Local School District. Athletic teams compete as the Buckeye Local Panthers in the Ohio High School Athletic Association as a member of the Ohio Valley Athletic Conference. Since 2010, the Buckeye Local Junior High School, grades 7-8, occupy the lower floor of the high school building. Grades 9-12, occupying the upper floor, are administered separately.
