Brij Kishore Sharma
Brij Kishore Sharma (born c.1946) is an Indian former politician. He was born in 1946, the eldest son of Nawal Kishore Sharma, the Governor of Gujarat State (2004-2009), and Munni Devi. In 1968 he obtained a Diploma in Electrical Engineering from the Rajasthan Board of Technical Education. In 2008, Sharma contested the Rajasthan Legislative Assembly elections, as the Indian National Congress candidate, for the Hawa Mahal constituency. He polled 44,926 votes (41% of the total vote) winning the seat by a margin of 580 votes, defeating the Bharatiya Janata Party candidate, Manju Sharma, the daughter of Bhanwar Lal Sharma. Sharma was subsequently appointed as Education Minister in Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot's Cabinet. Bhanwar Lal Sharma (17 April 1945 – 9 October 2022) was an Indian politician. He was a 7th term Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) from Sardarshahar, Churu, Rajasthan. He emerged as a national figure in the Brahmin Samaj as he was President of All India Brahmin Federation since 2011. He was a Cabinet Minister of Indira Gandhi Neher Pariyojana in Rajasthan Government. Legislative Assembly elections were held in the Indian state of Rajasthan on 1 December 2013. Results were announced on 8 December. The incumbent ruling party Indian National Congress, led by the Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, lost the elections to Vasundhara Raje-led BJP, who was being touted as the next incumbent. Pre-poll surveys Election Polling was held on 1 December in 199 assembly seats out of 200 seats. Churu constituency polling was postponed to 13 December due to death of BSP candidate Jagdish Meghwal. Voter-verified paper audit trail (VVPAT) along with EVMs was used in 1 assembly seat in Rajasthan elections. There were 2,087 candidates including 166 women and one eunuch candidate.
