''Bridge'' is the first solo album by Californian punk rock musician Joey Cape, frontman of Lagwagon and Bad Astronaut, released on September 29, 2008, through Suburban Home Records. Unlike Cape's work in his bands, the album is an acoustic music, acoustic alternative rock, alternative/indie rock album, much like his work with Tony Sly on their collaborative album ''Acoustic'' from 2004. In the album's booklet, Cape describes the solo album as a "rite of passage." 5 songs on the album are acoustic renditions of songs previously released on the Lagwagon EP ''I Think My Older Brother Used to Listen to Lagwagon'' which was released in August of the same year. Those are: "Errands", "B Side", "Memoirs and Landmines", "No Little Pill" and "Mission Unaccomplished". Randal Joseph Cape (born November 16, 1966) is an American singer and musician. Active since 1989, Cape is best known as the frontman of the California punk rock band Lagwagon. Cape released his first solo album, ''Bridge'', in 2008. His second album ''Doesn't Play Well with Others'', was self-released in 2011, after he released each song on the album each month of 2010, collecting them all on CD and vinyl in the end of 2010. Biography In addition to his work with Lagwagon, he was the lead vocalist for the experimental band Bad Astronaut until they disbanded due to death of drummer Derrick Plourde and is also a guitarist in the cover band Me First and the Gimme Gimmes. Moreover, Joey Cape released two split albums with Tony Sly of No Use for a Name, featuring acoustic versions of Lagwagon and No Use For a Name songs. Bad Astronaut
Bad Astronaut is an American indie/alternative rock band founded in 2000 by Joey Cape, singer from Lagwagon. In Bad Astronaut, Joey Cape explores a style of alternative rock, with lyrics often about deep and intricate personal matters. The band released its debut album, ''Acrophobe'' in 2001, followed by '' Houston: We Have a Drinking Problem'' in 2002 on Honest Don's Records. The band released its third and final album, '' Twelve Small Steps, One Giant Disappointment'' on November 14, 2006, on Fat Wreck Chords. Upon the album's release, Joey Cape announced, "without Derrick, there is no Bad Astronaut" on the band's Myspace page, deciding the resulting record would be the last for Bad Astronaut. (Drummer Derrick Plourde committed suicide in March 2005.) Joey Cape expressed plans on releasing a b-sides album sometime in the future.
