It chronicles the lives of women engaged to be married, casting their busy schedules in an emphatic and sometimes humorous fashion. The word "bridezilla" is a portmanteau combining bride with the fictional rampaging beast "Godzilla" to indicate a difficult bride. The word was first used by a ''Boston Globe'' writer named Diane White in a 1995 article about difficult brides. Format A typical episode presents the stories of two brides-to-be, splitting time between both brides. ''-zilla'' is an English slang suffix, a libfix back-formation derived from the English name of the Japanese movie monster Godzilla. It is popular for the names of software and websites. It is also found often in popular culture to imply some form of excess, denoting the monster-like qualities of Godzilla. This trend has been observed since the popularization of the Mozilla Project, which itself included the Internet Relay Chat client ChatZilla. The use of the suffix was contested by Toho, owners of the trademark Godzilla, in a lawsuit against the website Davezilla and also against Sears for their mark Bagzilla. Toho has since trademarked the word "Zilla" and retroactively used it as an official name for the "Godzilla In Name Only" creature from the 1998 Roland Emmerich film. Bridezilla (band)
Bridezilla were a band from Sydney, Australia formed in 2005, during their early years of High School. They played their farewell show at the Oxford Arts Factory on 16 January 2013. The band composed of vocalist Holiday Sidewinder, Pia May, the band's guitarist, Millie Hall on Saxophone, Daisy Tulley on violin, and drummer Josh Bush. In September 2007, the band signed with Ivy League Records and released their debut EP on 24 November 2007. In February 2009, they signed to Inertia (independent record company) with in-house label Inertia Recordings, and released their debut full-length album ''The First Dance'' on 30 October 2009. Touring and Press Over 6 years of touring the band played supports for The Dirty Three, John Cale (The Velvet Underground), Wilco, Stephen Malkmus (Pavement (band), Pavement), The Drones (Australian band), The Drones, Interpol (band), Interpol, Sia and many more. A bride is a woman who is about to be married or who is newlywed. When marrying, the bride's future spouse, (if male) is usually referred to as the ''bridegroom'' or just ''groom''.
