Brickwood Galuteria
Brickwood M. Galuteria (born 1955), is an American politician, radio host, musician and actor. He was the Hawaii State Senator representing District 12 of Honolulu. He previously served as state chairman of the Democratic Party of Hawaii (2004–2006). Early years Brickwood M. Galuteria was born in 1955 in Honolulu, Hawaii, he is of Portuguese, Hawaiian, and Filipino descent. Galuteria was born and raised in the Kaka‘ako and Kapahulu areas and attended Kamehameha Schools since kindergarten. Galuteria's family were mostly blue-collar workers. His father, Arnold, worked for United Airlines and was president of his union. His mother, Juliette, worked for the City and County of Honolulu at City Hall. Gordon Trimble, a member of the United States Republican Party (United States), Republican Party, represents the 12th Senatorial District in the Hawaii State Senate of the Hawaii State Legislature. ''MidWeek'' is a weekly United States tabloid shopper and advertisement periodical published in Honolulu, Hawaii and distributed throughout the Islands of Oahu and Kauai. It is owned by Black Press and is a sister publication of the ''Honolulu Star-Advertiser''. History The shopper started in 1984 to provide advertisers with an alternative way to reach more customers. Publisher Ken Berry helped secure deals with Safeway and Pay ‘n Save to advertise with the fledgling publication. Berry sought out cover stories and columnists that would increase readership. The first issue of ''MidWeek'' was published on July 18, 1984 and featured local newscaster Joe Moore on the cover. Ala Moana (meaning ''path to the sea'' in Hawaiian) is a commercial, retail, and residential district of Honolulu, Hawaii. It is located between Waikiki and Moiliili to the east, and Kakaako and Honolulu Harbor to the west. King Street, to the north, marks the border with the neighborhood of Makiki. Miss Hawaii
The Miss Hawaii competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the State of Hawaii in the Miss America pageant, and the name of the title held by that winner. Hawaii first competed at Miss America in 1948 and has twice won the Miss America title, in 1992 and 2001. The current Miss Hawaii is Lauren Teruya of Honolulu who was crowned on May 14, 2022, at the Ala Moana Hotel in Honolulu.
