Brian Zabaleta (born 23 April 1998) is an Argentine professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Gimnasia y Esgrima. Career Zabaleta, who also had youth stints with Empleados de Comercio and Lanús, began his senior career in Primera B Nacional with Gimnasia y Esgrima; with his breakthrough arriving in 2019. After being an unused substitute for a fixture with Defensores de Belgrano on 31 March, Zabaleta made his senior debut in a victory away to their Jujuy namesakes on 7 April; he was substituted on for Diego Auzqui with eighty minutes played. Club Atlético Gimnasia y Esgrima (usually known as Gimnasia y Esgrima de Mendoza) is an Argentine football club located in the city of Mendoza. Primera Nacional (usually called simply Nacional B, in English "National B Division", and known as Primera B Nacional until the 2019–20 season) is the second division of the Argentine football league system. The competition is made up of 37 teams. It is played by teams from all over the country. The 2018–19 Argentine Primera B Nacional was the 34th season of the Argentine second division. The season began on 25 August 2018 and ended on 8 June 2019. Twenty-five teams competed in the league, seventeen returning from the 2017–18 season, four teams that were relegated from Primera División and two teams promoted from Federal A and B Metropolitana. Competition format Twenty-five teams played each other once for a total of twenty-four matches each. The champion earns promotion to the Primera División. The teams placed from 2nd to 9th place competed in the "Torneo Reducido" for the second promotion berth after the regular season ended.
