Wright is an occupational surname originating in England. The term 'Wright' comes from the circa 700 AD Old English word 'wryhta' or 'wyrhta', meaning worker or shaper of wood. Later it became any occupational worker (for example, a shipwright is a person who builds ships), and is used as a British family name. Brian Wright is an American football coach and former player. He is the head football coach at Pittsburg State University in Pittsburg, Kansas, a position he has held since December 2019. Wright was previously and was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach at the University of Toledo and has had coaching stops at The College of Wooster, Walsh University, Youngstown State University, Montana State University, Florida Atlantic University. He served as the interim head coach at Florida Atlantic for the final four games of the 2013 season, leading them to four straight wins and bowl eligibility. Brian Wright is an American singer-songwriter from Waco, Texas. His debut album, ''Dog Ears'' was released in 2006, quickly followed by a sophomore effort, ''Bluebird'' in 2007. After signing with Sugar Hill Records, Wright has recorded two more albums, 2011's ''House on Fire'' and 2013's ''Rattle Their Chains''. Career Born in Mclennan County, Texas, Brian Wright found music at the age of 13. He started as a drummer but found the guitar more to his liking (though he can play almost any instrument with keys or strings). Wright spent several years playing in Austin and Dallas bars before moving to Los Angeles in 2002 with his drummer. There they formed the band "Brian Wright and the Waco Tragedies." Brian Wright is an Australian former rugby league footballer who played for South Sydney and Eastern Suburbs in the New South Wales Rugby League premiership competition. Wright began his New South Wales Rugby League (NSWRL) career with South Sydney in 1957 making 15 first grade appearances with that club. Brian Wright (born March 23, 1995) is a Canadian professional soccer player who plays as a forward for York United. Early life Wright was born in Toronto and moved to Ajax with his family at age four. He played most of his youth soccer with local club Ajax SC. Club career Early career Wright spent his entire college career at the University of Vermont playing for its men's soccer team between 2013 and 2016. While at Vermont, Wright scored 39 goals and tallied 25 assists in 80 appearances while leading the Catamounts to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in 2015 and 2016.
