Brian Shelley (actor)
Brian Shelley (born 15 November 1981) is an Irish football player-coach for Waitakere United. Besides the Republic of Ireland, he has played in New Zealand. He began his career at Shamrock Rovers but moved to rivals Bohemians in 2000. He made his first team debut for the club as substitute in the UEFA Cup tie against 1. FC Kaiserslautern in September 2000. After a short spell with Longford Town, Roddy Collins brought him along with teammate Trevor Molloy to Carlisle United in time for the 2002/03 season. He scored his first and only goal for Carlisle in a 2–1 defeat to Leyton Orient on 28 December 2002. He returned to Ireland during the 2005 season with Shamrock Rovers, making his debut on 18 March and went on to make 17 total appearances. Having helped Drogheda to the club's first ever League of Ireland title in November 2007, he was named PFAI Player of the Year on 18 November 2007. Carlisle United Football Club ( , ) is a professional association football club based in Carlisle, Cumbria, England. The team compete in , the fourth tier of the English football league system. They have played their home games at Brunton Park since 1909. 2009–10 Setanta Sports Cup
The 2009–10 Setanta Sports Cup was the 5th staging of the cross-border Setanta Sports Cup competition - which featured football clubs from the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. It commenced on August 28, 2009, and the final was played on May 15, 2010, with Bohemians defeating St Patrick's Athletic 1–0 to claim their first Setanta Cup triumph. On June 22, 2009, the draw for the competition was postponed because of the financial troubles of organizer Setanta Sports. However, on July 19, 2009, it was confirmed that the competition would be going ahead as planned, and the draw was made at FAI headquarters in Abbotstown, Dublin, on July 28. Setanta Sports Cup
The Setanta Sports Cup was a club football competition featuring teams from both football associations on the island of Ireland. Inaugurated in 2005, it was a cross-border competition between clubs in the League of Ireland from the Republic of Ireland and the NIFL Premiership from Northern Ireland. The cup was sponsored by Setanta Sports, the Irish subscription sports television network. The competition was discontinued after the 2014 edition. The 2009 EA Sports Cup is the 36th staging of the League of Ireland football knockout competition. Twenty nine clubs participated in this year's competition. The ten Premier Division, twelve First Division and the five non-reserve teams from the A Championship were joined by Kildrum Tigers, the 2008 Ulster Senior League champions, and the Kerry District League representative side. The Football Association of Ireland Senior Challenge Cup (FAI Cup), known as the Extra.ie FAI Cup for sponsorship reasons, is a knock-out association football competition contested annually by teams from the Republic of Ireland (as well as Derry City from Northern Ireland). Organised by the FAI ( Football Association of Ireland), the competition is currently sponsored by '' Extra.ie''. It was known as the Free State Cup from 1923 to 1936.
