Brian Pezzutti
Brian Patrick Victor Pezzutti, (; born 6 January 1947) is a former Australian politician and Australian Army officer. Born in Casino, New South Wales, he was the son of Victor Dominic Pezzutti and Helena Hilda Bazzo. He was an army reservist in 1965 and later became active in the armed forces; he received the National Medal in 1978. On 23 February 1976 he married Christine Jillian Spence, with whom he has two daughters and two sons. Pezzutti was trained as a medical practitioner and is a specialist anaesthetist. He joined the Liberal Party and was the foundation president of the Lismore Branch, serving from 1983 until 1990. He has been vice-president since this time. In 1988, he was elected to the New South Wales Legislative Council, on which he served until his retirement in 2003. Legislative Council Of New South Wales
The New South Wales Legislative Council, often referred to as the upper house, is one of the two chambers of the parliament of the Australian state of New South Wales. The other is the Legislative Assembly. Both sit at Parliament House in the state capital, Sydney. It is normal for legislation to be first deliberated on and passed by the Legislative Assembly before being considered by the Legislative Council, which acts in the main as a house of review. The Legislative Council has 42 members, elected by proportional representation in which the whole state is a single electorate. The Centenary Medal is an award which was created by the Australian Government in 2001. It was established to commemorate the centenary of the Federation of Australia and to recognise "people who made a contribution to Australian society or government". The Australian Service Medal is an Australian military decoration. It was authorised 13 September 1988 to recognise prescribed service in peacekeeping and non-warlike operations. It is awarded with a clasp to denote the prescribed operation and subsequent awards of the medal are made in the form of additional clasps. The Australian Service Medal 1945–1975 recognises non-warlike service prior to February 1975. The Australian Service Medal was replaced in 2012 by the Australian Operational Service Medal, except for ongoing missions. International Force East Timor Medal
The International Force East Timor (INTERFET) Medal recognises members of the Australian Defence Force who served for 30 days (or 30 sorties) in East Timor during the INTERFET campaign (16 September 1999 – 10 April 2000). The qualifying area comprises East Timor and the sea adjacent to East Timor out to a distance of from the low water mark. It was authorised on 13 September 1988 to recognise prescribed service in "warlike" operations, backdated to February 1975.
