Brian Leishman
Brian William Leishman is a Scottish Labour Party politician serving as Member of Parliament (MP) for Alloa and Grangemouth since 2024. Early life and career Leishman was educated at St Columba's High School in Perth. He began a history and politics degree at the University of Stirling, but left after several weeks to pursue a golfing career. Leishman is a member of the Professional Golfers' Association, and has received a Bachelor of Arts in golf management from Abertay University. He has coached at numerous Scottish golf clubs, including Alloa Golf Club where he owned a shop prior to his election to Parliament. Political career In 2022, Leishman was elected as a Member of Perth and Kinross Council for Perth City North. As a councillor, he served as a director of two council-funded sports bodies. 2022 Perth And Kinross Council Election
Elections to Perth and Kinross Council were held on 5 May 2022 as part of the 2022 Scottish local elections. 40 Councillors were elected from 12 multi-members electoral wards under the Single Transferable Vote electoral system. The Scottish Conservatives had run Perth and Kinross Council as a minority administration immediately prior to the election, with a previous coalition with the Scottish Liberal Democrats collapsing mid-way through the term. Twelve incumbent Councillors, including two group leaders, decided not to seek re-election whilst others stood again but lost their seats. John Nicolson
John MacKenzie Nicolson (born 23 June 1961) is a Scottish journalist, broadcaster and Scottish National Party (SNP) politician. Since the 2019 general election he has been the SNP Member of Parliament (MP) for Ochil and South Perthshire. Alloa
Alloa (Received Pronunciation ; educated Scottish pronunciation /ˈaloʊa/; gd, Alamhagh, possibly meaning "rock plain") is a town in Clackmannanshire in the Central Lowlands of Scotland. It is on the north bank of the Forth at the spot where some say it ceases to be the River Forth and becomes the Firth of Forth. Alloa is south of the Ochil Hills, east of Stirling and north of Falkirk; by water Alloa is from Granton.
