Brian Honeywood
Brian Roy Honeywood (8 May 1949 – March 2024) was an English footballer who played in the Football League as a defender for Colchester United. Club career Born in Chelmsford, Honeywood played for hometown club Chelmsford City as an apprentice, before joining Ipswich Town, going on to make 100 youth team appearances and 46 reserve team appearances, however Honeywood never broke into the first-team at the club. Honeywood joined Colchester United in the summer of 1968, making his first-team debut on the opening day of the 1968–69 season, a 4–0 loss to Brentford on 10 August 1968. Honeywood went on to make 18 league appearances during his single season with the club. He made his final appearance in the final game of the season on 2 May 1969, a 2–0 away defeat to Notts County before joining Chelmsford City in 1969. Chelmsford () is a city in the City of Chelmsford district in the county of Essex, England. It is the county town of Essex and one of three cities in the county, along with Southend-on-Sea and Colchester. It is located north-east of London at Charing Cross and south-west of Colchester. Maldon (, locally ) is a town and civil parish on the Blackwater estuary in Essex, England. It is the seat of the Maldon District and starting point of the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation. It is known for Maldon Sea Salt which is produced in the area. History Early and medieval history The place-name ''Maldon'' is first attested in 913 in the ''Anglo-Saxon Chronicle'', where it appears as ''Maeldun''. Maldon's name comes from ''mǣl'' meaning 'monument or cross' and ''dūn'' meaning 'hill', so translates as 'monument hill'. East Saxons settled the area in the 5th century and the area to the south is still known as the Dengie Peninsula after the Dæningas. Gary Bellamy
Gary Bellamy (born 4 July 1962) is an English former professional footballer. He began his career at Chesterfield, making over 150 appearances for the club before joining Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1987. He helped the club to back-to-back promotions from Division Four to Division Two, as well as winning the Football League Trophy in 1988. He had a brief spell on loan at Cardiff City in 1982 before moving to Leyton Orient. Bellamy later joined Chelmsford City as player-manager and also managed Dover Athletic and Braintree Town. Career Chesterfield Bellamy had a spell at Nottinghamshire County Cricket Club as a teenager, but decided to pursue a career in football instead, joining Chesterfield as a trainee. He broke into the first team and played seven seasons at Saltergate.
