Brian Jhan Fox (born 1959) is an American computer programmer and free software advocate. He is the original author of the GNU Bash shell, which he announced as a beta in June 1989. He continued as the primary maintainer of bash until at least early 1993. Fox also built the first interactive online banking software in the U.S. for Wells Fargo in 1995, and he created an open source election system in 2008. Free Software Foundation In 1985, Fox worked with Richard Stallman at Stallman's newly created Free Software Foundation. At the FSF, Fox authored GNU Bash, GNU Makeinfo, GNU Info, GNU Finger, GNU Echo and the readline and history libraries. He was also the maintainer of GNU Emacs for a time, making many contributions to the software which was created and maintained for the GNU Project between 1986 and 1994. Brian Fox is an American painter who has created portraits of many entertainment and sports celebrities. Career Fox served as the commemorative artist for Major League Baseball’s 2007, 2008 and 2009 All Star Games, as well as the official artist for the 2007 World Series. In 2009, Fox was hired to produce “Original Artist Sketch Cards” for TOPPS popular Series 1 Baseball Cards. Brian completed the sketches of forty current and retired baseball players, including Babe Ruth, Mickey Mantle, Jonathan Papelbon, Josh Hamilton, and Ichiro Suzuki. Also in 2009, Fox was commissioned by the National Hockey League to produce original artwork for the 2010 NHL Winter Classic. Fox’s artwork appeared on the cover of the limited edition game day program. The painting was auctioned on NHL Auctions, on NHL.com. Brian Fox (born 19 July 1988) is an Irish Gaelic football who plays his club football for Éire Óg and previously at inter-county level for Tipperary. Fox is the nephew of former Tipperary hurler Pat Fox. Career He made his championship debut in 2009 against Limerick. On 31 July 2016, Fox started in the half forward line as Tipperary defeated Galway in the 2016 All-Ireland Quarter-finals at Croke Park to reach their first All-Ireland semi-final since 1935. On 21 August 2016, Tipperary were beaten in the semi-final by Mayo on a 2-13 to 0-14 scoreline. On 8 April 2017, Tipperary captained by Fox won the Division 3 final of the 2017 National Football League after a 3-19 to 0-19 win against Louth in Croke Park.
