Brian Finbar Myram Edwards (born 4 November 1937) is an Irish-born New Zealand media personality and author. Early life Edwards was born in Cork and educated at the Royal Belfast Academical Institution. He arrived in New Zealand in 1964, where he intended to lecture in German at the University of Canterbury. After three years he quit this role and embarked on a career in the media. Radio and television career Edwards is best known as a radio and television interviewer, and was the host of Radio New Zealand's highly rated show ''Top of the Morning'' from 1994 to 1999, a role which he returned to in 2006. He is also known for his television appearances, starting in the 1960s. Edwards has been a host of numerous television series, notably ''Fair Go'' (which he devised, and hosted for eight years), and in 2003 hosted his own talk show, ''Edwards at Large''. Brian Edwards (born October 6, 1984) is an American former soccer player who last played as a goalkeeper for Degerfors IF. Career Youth and College Edwards attended Providence High School in Charlotte, North Carolina, played club soccer for the Charlotte Soccer Club, and played college soccer at Wake Forest University. In his four-year playing career at Wake Forest, Edwards put up a career 0.78 GA average, 44 career shutouts, and led the Demon Deacons to victory in the 2007 Division I Men's College Cup, defeating Ohio State University in the final. Edwards was named the Final Four's defensive MVP. During his college years he also played with Carolina Dynamo of the USL Premier Development League. Professional Edwards was drafted in the second round (twenty-eighth overall) of the 2008 MLS SuperDraft by Toronto FC, which intended to use Edwards as a back-up goalkeeper behind Greg Sutton. Brian Morgan Edwards (August 1934 – December 2002) was a Welsh businessman and politician who sponsored the first Welsh-language recording studio for popular music. He was described as a political "maverick". Edwards was born in Swansea and won a place at the London School of Economics, where he was a joint founder of the Tankard Club, a dining club for LSE graduates. His first job was as a computer salesman with IBM, and he soon won success in that field. In 1961 he was appointed lead salesman for a new computer system which used a novel small-sized punched card and was designed for the smaller business. By spending his weekends driving around the industrial estates of west London, and on Monday mornings presenting a list of company names to his secretary, he rapidly built up a strong following of prospective customers. He played college football at South Carolina and was drafted by the Las Vegas Raiders in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Bryan Edwards (27 October 1930 – 21 June 2016) was an English football player and manager. He played 518 games for Bolton Wanderers picking up an FA Cup Winners medal in 1958 and later managed Bradford City and was a coach and physiotherapist at several clubs. Playing career Edwards excelled at both football and cricket and had trials for both sports, at Bolton Wanderers and Yorkshire CCC in 1947. He joined Bolton and signed a full-time professional contract in October 1947. He stayed at Burnden Park for 18 years, although his career was interrupted by two years National Service, winning an FA Cup winners medal in 1958 when Bolton defeated Manchester United 2–0. He made 483 league appearances and 518 in all league and cup games mostly as a wing half before later playing as a centre half retiring in 1965, aged 35.
