Brian Courtice
Brian William Courtice (born 17 April 1950) is a former Australian politician and trade unionist. He represented the Division of Hinkler in federal parliament from 1987 to 1993 as a member of the Australian Labor Party (ALP). He was expelled from the party in 2005. Early life Courtice was born in Bundaberg, Queensland. His uncle Ben Courtice was an ALP senator and government minister. He was a cane farmer and organiser with the Australian Workers' Union (AWU) before entering parliament. Parliament Courtice stood for the newly created Division of Hinkler at the 1984 federal election, narrowly losing to National Party candidate Bryan Conquest. He defeated Conquest in a re-match at the 1987 election. He increased his majority at the 1990 election but Paul Neville regained the seat for the Nationals in 1993. The Division of Hinkler is an Australian Electoral Division in Queensland. Geography Since 1984, federal electoral division boundaries in Australia have been determined at redistributions by a redistribution committee appointed by the Australian Electoral Commission. Redistributions occur for the boundaries of divisions in a particular state, and they occur every seven years, or sooner if a state's representation entitlement changes or when divisions of a state are malapportioned. History The division was created in 1984 and is named after Bert Hinkler, the great pioneer Australian aviator. Kevin Rudd
Kevin Michael Rudd (born 21 September 1957) is an Australian former politician and diplomat who served as the 26th prime minister of Australia from 2007 to 2010 and again from June 2013 to September 2013, holding office as the leader of the Australian Labor Party (ALP). Bundaberg is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland in central Queensland, Australia. It covers the city of Bundaberg, as well as the immediate surrounding area. History The electoral district of Bundaberg was created by the ''Electoral Districts Act of 1887'' which abolished the electoral district of Mulgrave that had included the Bundaberg area. The first election held in the seat of Bundaberg was the 1888 election. The city's urban population has long made the seat a Labor stronghold. This changed in 2005 when the practices of rogue surgeon Jayant Patel at the Bundaberg Base Hospital were uncovered. David Peter Beddall (born 27 November 1948) is a former Australian politician. Beddall was born in Manchester, England and was employed by the Commonwealth Bank and was a self-employed commercial finance consultant before he entered parliament. A leadership spill in the Australian Labor Party, the party of government in the Parliament of Australia, was held on 3 June 1991. It was the first of two ballots that year with Prime Minister Bob Hawke surviving the ballot against Treasurer Paul Keating, who then went to the backbench.
