Brian Charles Rooney
Brian Charles Rooney is an American actor and singer. Technically a sopranist (sopranista or male soprano), he has also sung high tenor roles in theatrical productions in the United States, Canada, and Europe. He made his Broadway debut in The Roundabout Theatre Company's 2006 revival of Kurt Weill and Bertolt Brecht's ''The Threepenny Opera'' in the role of Lucy Brown. As a tenor, he played Tony on a European tour of the American musical ''West Side Story''. He has been featured in musical and non-musical theatrical productions in such cities as San Francisco, Miami, San Diego, Los Angeles, and Dallas. He has been a featured soloist with the Seattle Symphony Orchestra and the Oregon Symphony Orchestra. In 2013, as a pop-rock singer-songwriter, he began performing original material in concert venues in New York City. A sopranist (also, sopranista or male soprano) is a male singer who is able to sing in the vocal tessitura of a soprano usually through the use of falsetto or head voice vocal production. This voice type is a specific kind of countertenor. In rare cases an adult man may be able to sing in the soprano range using his normal or modal voice (high chest voice) and not falsetto due to endocrinological reasons, like Radu Marian, or as a result of a larynx that has not completely developed as is allegedly the case of Michael Maniaci. Voice A sopranist is able to sing in the soprano vocal range which is approximately between C4 and C6, though at times may expand somewhat higher or lower. New York Musical Theatre Festival
The New York Musical Festival (NYMF) was an annual three-week summer festival that operated from 2004 to 2019. It presented more than 30 new musicals a year in New York City's midtown theater district. More than half were chosen by leading theater artists and producers through an open-submission, double-blind evaluation process; the remaining shows were invited to participate by the Festival's artist staff. The festival premiered over 447 musicals, which featured the work of over 8,000 artists and were attended by more than 300,000 people. More than 100 NYMF shows went on to further productions.
