Brian Boudreau
Brian Vincent Boudreau (July 19, 1954 – October 12, 2021) was a Canadian politician. He represented the electoral district of Cape Breton The Lakes in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 1999 to 2003. He was a member of the Nova Scotia Liberal Party. Early life and municipal politics Born in 1954 at Bras d'Or, Nova Scotia, Boudreau served as a municipal councilor in Cape Breton County. In 1995, following municipal amalgamation, Boudreau was elected to council for the newly formed Cape Breton Regional Municipality, where he served as deputy mayor. Provincial politics Boudreau entered provincial politics in the 1999 election, defeating New Democrat incumbent Helen MacDonald by 101 votes in the Cape Breton The Lakes riding. Victoria County, Nova Scotia
Victoria County is an historical county and census division of Nova Scotia, Canada. Local government is provided by the Municipality of the County of Victoria and the Wagmatcook 1 reserve. History Named after Queen Victoria, it was established by statute in 1851. Cape Breton County was divided into two separate counties in that year, with the northern portion becoming Victoria County. Like other parts of Nova Scotia, the county was sparsely inhabited by the Miꞌkmaq, who hunted in the area. The earliest settlers of Victoria County were almost exclusively Loyalists, with most arriving from the United States in the years following the American Revolutionary War. Keith Bain
Keith Leslie Bain (born October 24, 1952) is a Canadian politician. He represented the electoral district of Victoria-The Lakes in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 2006 to 2013 as a member of the Progressive Conservatives. Bain first ran for provincial politics in the 2003 election, but was defeated by Liberal Gerald Sampson. Bain was elected in the 2006 provincial election, defeating Sampson by over 700 votes. The 2003 Nova Scotia general election was held on August 5, 2003 to elect members of the 59th House of Assembly of the Province of Nova Scotia, Canada. The ruling Progressive Conservative Party, led by Premier John Hamm, was reduced to a minority government. Campaign The election was called by Progressive Conservatives, who decided to hold a rare summer election in the hope of strengthening their hold on the legislature. Running against them were the New Democratic Party (NDP), led by Darrell Dexter, and the Liberal Party, led by Danny Graham. Hamm's party ran on a policy of fiscal management, tax cuts, and on their record of fulfilling most of their promises. Gerald E. Sampson is a Canadian businessman and politician. He represented the electoral district of Victoria-The Lakes in the Nova Scotia House of Assembly from 2003 to 2006. He was a member of the Nova Scotia Liberal Party. Life and career A resident of Big Bras d'Or, Nova Scotia, Sampson has worked for Human Resources Development Canada as an outreach worker, several trucking companies, in direct sales, and owned and managed his own business for five years.
