Brian Bender
Sir Brian Geoffrey Bender (25 February 1949 – 4 November 2021) was a British civil servant, who served as the Permanent Secretary of three departments, two of which were re-organised whilst he was at their helm. Educated at Greenford Grammar School and then Imperial where he received his PhD, Bender joined the civil service in 1973 into DTI. After serving as the private secretary to the Secretary of State for Trade in 1976–1977, he worked in international trade issues including two stints at UKREP, from 1977 to 1982 on international steel issues and again in a more senior post responsible for all industry, for 1987–1989, returning to London to be promoted to Under Secretary to serve as deputy head of the European Secretariat in the Cabinet Office in 1990. Simon Fraser (British Civil Servant)
Sir Simon James Fraser (born 3 June 1958) is a British former diplomat who served as the Permanent Under-Secretary of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office from August 2010 to July 2015, having served as Permanent Secretary of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills from May 2009 to August 2010. Sir Simon is a Trustee of the Patchwork Foundation, founded by Harris Bokhari. Sir Simon is currently Deputy Chairman of Chatham House and serves as Adviser to the Europe Programme. Sir Robin Urquhart Young, KCB (born 7 September 1948) is a British retired civil servant. He was Permanent Secretary for the Department for Culture, Media and Sport from 1998 to 2001 and Permanent Secretary for the Department of Trade & Industry from 2001 to 2005. Personal life Young was born in 1948, and educated at Fettes College, Edinburgh and at University College, Oxford. Robin Mountfield
Sir Robin Mountfield, KCB (16 October 1939 – 9 November 2011) was a British civil servant, who retired in 1999 from his most senior post as Permanent Secretary at the Cabinet Office. Early life and education Mountfield was born on 16 October 1939. He attended Merchant Taylors' School, Crosby and then Magdalen College, Oxford. Career He joined the Ministry of Power in 1961. He rose to the rank of Deputy Secretary in the Department of Trade and Industry in 1984, where he served until 1992 when he transferred to HM Treasury.
