Brian Antoni
Brian Antoni is the author of the novel ''South Beach: The Novel''. ''South Beach: The Novel'' is based on Antoni's firsthand knowledge of the resurgence of Miami Beach in the past two decades. His writing has also been included in the parody novel ''Naked Came the Manatee'', where he wrote one of the chapters. He also writes non-fiction articles for travel magazines. Background Brian Antoni was born in Detroit, Michigan, but was raised in Freeport Bahamas. His parents are from Trinidad. His sister is Janine Antoni, a well-known Bahamian artist. His brother Robert Antoni is a well-known Caribbean writer. Brian Antoni studied law at Emory University and got his law doctorate at Georgetown University. Naked Came The Manatee
''Naked Came the Manatee'' () is a mystery thriller parody novel published in 1996. It is composed of thirteen chapters, each written by a different Miami-area writer. It was originally published as a serial in the ''Miami Herald's'' ''Tropic'' magazine, one chapter per issue, and later published as a single novel. Its title is a reference to the literary hoax ''Naked Came the Stranger''. The book was conceived of and edited by Tom Shroder, then editor of ''Tropic''. Dave Barry came up with the first chapter, which was then handed to the next writer, and so on until Carl Hiaasen had to tie all the loose threads together in the final chapter. Each chapter was written on deadline for publication in the magazine. Freeport, Bahamas
Freeport is a city, district and free trade zone on the island of Grand Bahama of the northwest Bahamas. In 1955, Wallace Groves, a Virginian financier with lumber interests in Grand Bahama, was granted of pineyard with substantial areas of swamp and scrubland by the Bahamian government with a mandate to economically develop the area. Freeport has grown to become the second most populous city in the Bahamas. The main airport serving the city is the Grand Bahama International Airport, which receives domestic flights from various islands of the Bahamas as well as several international flights from the United States and Canada. Freeport is also served by domestic Bahamian ferry services to other islands. Janine Antoni
Janine Antoni (born January 19, 1964) is a Bahamian–born American artist, who creates contemporary work in performance art, sculpture, and photography. Antoni's work focuses on process and the transitions between the making and finished product, often portraying feminist ideals. She emphasizes the human body in her pieces, such as her mouth, hair, eyelashes, and, through technological scanning, brain, using it as a tool of creation or as the subject of her pieces, exploring intimacy between the spectator and the artist. Her work blurs the distinction between performance art and sculpture. Robert Antoni
Robert Antoni (born 1958) is a West Indian writer who was awarded the 1999 Aga Khan Prize for Fiction by ''The Paris Review'' for ''My Grandmother's Tale of How Crab-o Lost His Head''. He is a Guggenheim Fellow for 2010 for his work on the historical novel ''As Flies to Whatless Boys''. Early life Robert Antoni was born in the United States of Trinidadian parents and grew up largely in the Bahamas, where his father practised medicine.
