Brezik Našički
Brezik Našički is a small village 3 kilometers from Našice, Osijek-Baranja County, Croatia. Population is 352 (2011). History It grew on the wilderness of Count Pejačević's estate, and was first mentioned in 1896. Brezik is named after the birch forest that once grew there. The first house in the area was the lodge of Count Pejačević. However, the first inhabitants were the family of Nikola and Matilda Baricevic who moved in 1918 from Jasenica with their five sons and two daughters. The first child in the village was born in their family in 1926. Našice
Našice () is a town in eastern Croatia, located on the northern slopes of the Krndija mountain in eastern Slavonia, 51 km southwest of regional hub Osijek. Administratively it belongs to Osijek-Baranja County. Geography Našice is located on the D2 state road Varaždin– Virovitica–Našice–Osijek and the Varaždin–Dalj railway. Economy Chief occupations are farming and angling on 11 km2 of fishing ground. Major industries include metal processing, cement, (at ''Našice cement''), the stone excavation. Also wood processing, textiles and food. History The town was first mentioned in 1229 under the name of ''Nekche''. In the 13th century, the Knights Templar came to Našice and built a church. Stifolder The ''Stifolder'' or ''Stiffoller Shvove'' are a Roman Catholic subgroup of the so called Danube Swabians. Their ancestors once came ca. 1717 - 1804 from the Hochstift Fulda and surroundings ( Roman Catholic Diocese of Fulda), and settled in the Baranja area, such as in Jagodnjak, etc. They retained their own German dialect and culture, until the end of WW2. After WW2, the majority of Danube Swabians were expelled to Allied-occupied Germany and Allied-occupied Austria as a consequence of the Potsdam Agreement. Lika
Lika () is a traditional region of Croatia proper, roughly bound by the Velebit mountain from the southwest and the Plješevica mountain from the northeast. On the north-west end Lika is bounded by Ogulin-Plaški basin, and on the south-east by the Malovan pass.
