Brett Dobson
Brett Dobson (Born April 3rd, 2000) is a Canadian lacrosse goalie for the Archers Lacrosse Club of the Premier Lacrosse League, and as well for the Georgia Swarm of the National Lacrosse League. He is also a member of the Canada men's national lacrosse team. He represented Team Canada at the 2022 World Games Championship in Birmingham, Alabama, winning the gold medal. Early Life and Career Dobson is the son of Heather and Richard Dobson and has a younger sister, Kylea who plays lacrosse at The University of Louisville. Dobson attended The Hill Academy for 3 Seasons as well as playing Junior A Lacrosse for the Whitby Warriors, where he would spend 5 seasons. Dobson was only able to compete in 4 seasons due to the COVID 19 Pandemic. Georgia Swarm
The Georgia Swarm are a box lacrosse team in the East Division of the National Lacrosse League. They have been playing at the 13,000-seat Gas South Arena in Duluth, Georgia since their 2016 season. Originally formed as the 2002 expansion Montreal Express, the owners of the Minnesota Swarm purchased the inactive Express franchise from the NLL to create the Swarm in 2004. They played at the Xcel Energy Center in Saint Paul, Minnesota from 2004 until 2015. On May 22, 2015, team owner John Arlotta announced that the Xcel Energy Center, home of the Swarm, did not renew the contract for the team. Instead of negotiating for a new lease, the Swarm began looking for potential relocation sites and eventually chose the Atlanta metro area. The Whitby Warriors are a Junior "A" box lacrosse team from Whitby, Ontario, Canada. The Warriors play in the OLA Junior A Lacrosse League. History The Whitby Jr Lacrosse Franchise began in 1969 as the Whitby B & R Transporters. The Transporters won the Castrol Cup in 1970 as Canadian Jr B Champions. Lacrosse is a team sport played with a lacrosse stick and a lacrosse ball. 2023 World Lacrosse Championship
The 2023 World Lacrosse Championship will be the 14th edition of the international men's field lacrosse tournament for national teams organized by World Lacrosse. Initially scheduled for 2022, it was postponed to 2023 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The tournament will be held in San Diego, California. The tournament will be limited to 30 teams for the first time through regional qualifying tournaments. Hosting The Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL), since renamed World Lacrosse, gave its member associations until the end of September 2016 to formally make its intent to bid known to the international sports body and March 2017 to submit their bid.
