Brent Rathgeber
Brent M. Rathgeber (born July 24, 1964) is a lawyer, author and politician from Alberta, Canada. He was a Progressive Conservative member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta from 2001 to 2004 and was elected to the House of Commons of Canada in the 2008 federal election as a Conservative. He resigned from the Conservative caucus in 2013 and sat as an independent. He ran as an independent candidate in the riding of St. Albert—Edmonton in the 2015 federal election but was defeated by Conservative candidate Michael Cooper. In 2016, Rathgeber returned to the business world as a political consultant. He joined Cody Law Office in St. Albert, providing a full range of legal services, advocacy and consulting. Early life Rathgeber was born in Melville, Saskatchewan. After graduating from Melville Comprehensive School in 1982, He obtained his Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration and Bachelor of Laws degrees from the University of Saskatchewan. 2015 Canadian Federal Election
The 2015 Canadian federal election held on October 19, 2015, saw the Liberal Party, led by Justin Trudeau, win 184 seats, allowing it to form a majority government with Trudeau becoming the next prime minister. The election was held to elect members to the House of Commons of the 42nd Canadian Parliament. In keeping with the maximum four year term under a 2007 amendment to the ''Canada Elections Act'', the writs of election for the 2015 election were issued by Governor General David Johnston on August 4. The ensuing campaign was one of the longest in Canadian history. Alberta New Democratic Party
The Alberta New Democratic Party (french: Nouveau Parti démocratique de l'Alberta), commonly shortened to Alberta's NDP, is a social-democratic political party in Alberta, Canada. It is the provincial Alberta affiliate of the federal New Democratic Party, and the successor to the Alberta section of the Co-operative Commonwealth Federation and the even earlier Alberta wing of the Canadian Labour Party and the United Farmers of Alberta.
