The Brenham Heritage Museum is a local history museum located in downtown Brenham, Texas. Exhibits and collections reflect a focus on the history and culture of the Brenham and Washington County area. The museum is located in the old US Post Office-Federal Building-Brenham, a National Register of Historic Places building. Brenham Downtown Historic District
The Brenham Downtown Historic District was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2004. Buildings in the district were designed by Alfred C. Finn, James Wetmore, and others in Classical Revival architecture, Classical Revival and other styles. Included in the district is the Simon Theatre. The 1939 Washington County Courthouse (Brenham, Texas), Washington County Courthouse is also a contributing property to the district. Brenham ( ) is a city in east-central Texas in Washington County, United States, with a population of 17,369 according to the 2020 U.S. census. It is the county seat of Washington County. Washington County is a county in Texas. As of the 2020 census, the population was 35,805. Its county seat is Brenham, which is located along U.S. Highway 290, 72 miles northwest of Houston. Classical Revival Architecture
Neoclassical architecture is an architectural style produced by the Neoclassical movement that began in the mid-18th century in Italy and France. It became one of the most prominent architectural styles in the Western world.
