Brendan O'Connor (media Personality)
Brendan O'Connor (born 23 January 1970) is an Irish media personality and comedian. He presents the Current Affairs panel show ''Cutting Edge'' on RTÉ. He presented ''The Saturday Night Show'' on RTE from 2010 to 2015, he is also known for his appearances on page 3'' newspaper. He is also editor of the newspaper's ''Life Magazine''. O'Connor's pop career included a one-hit wonder as Fr Brian & The Fun Loving Cardinals, the comedy song " Who's in the House?", reaching number 3 in the Irish charts. O'Connor has pursued varied media career over several decades in Ireland. During the 1990s he appeared on ''Don't Feed the Gondolas'', as well as on a number of other TV programmes. During the 2000s he served a member of the judging panel on Raidió Teilifís Éireann's (RTÉ) ''You're a Star'' TV talent contest before presenting '' The Apprentice: You're Fired!'' and ''The Saturday Night Show''. Cork (city)
Cork ( , from , meaning 'marsh') is the second largest city in Ireland and third largest city by population on the island of Ireland. It is located in the south-west of Ireland, in the province of Munster. Following an extension to the city's boundary in 2019, its population is over 222,000. The city centre is an island positioned between two channels of the River Lee which meet downstream at the eastern end of the city centre, where the quays and docks along the river lead outwards towards Lough Mahon and Cork Harbour, one of the largest natural harbours in the world. UCC Philosophical Society
The UCC Philosophical Society, commonly known as ''the Philosoph'', is the largest debating society at University College Cork, Ireland. The Philosoph was founded in 1850, making it the oldest society at UCC. The society carries out a number of functions, including weekly debates with guest speakers, participating in debating competitions, running workshops for the students of UCC to develop their public speaking skills and running debating competitions and workshops for schoolchildren (including the Denny Schools Debating Competition). In the 1960s Seán MacBride SC and Nobel Peace Prize winner called the Philosoph "the centre of independent thought in Ireland" when discussing the state of the nation. Eoghan Harris
Eoghan Harris (born 13 March 1943) is an Irish journalist, columnist, director, and former politician. He has held posts in various and diverse political parties. He was a leading theoretician in the Marxist-Leninist Workers' Party of Ireland, previously 'Official' Sinn Féin. Harris was a fierce critic of 'Provisional' Sinn Féin, from which they had split, and became an opponent of Irish republicanism. For much of the Troubles, from the 1970s until the 1990s, Harris worked in Raidió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ) and was influential in shaping the current affairs output of Ireland's national broadcaster. A Teachta Dála ( , ; plural ), abbreviated as TD (plural ''TDanna'' in Irish, TDs in English), is a member of Dáil Éireann, the lower house of the Oireachtas (the Irish Parliament). It is the equivalent of terms such as ''Member of Parliament'' (MP) or '' Member of Congress'' used in other countries. The official translation of the term is "Deputy to the Dáil", although a more literal translation is "Assembly Delegate". Beverley Flynn (born 9 June 1966) is an Irish retired Fianna Fáil politician who was a Teachta Dála (TD) for the Mayo constituency from 1997 to 2011. Early life and political career She is the daughter of the former Fianna Fáil minister and European commissioner, Pádraig Flynn, who once famously described her as a "class act". She first stood for election in the June 1994 Mayo West by-election as the Fianna Fáil candidate, but was not successful. The Taoiseach is the head of government, or prime minister, of Republic of Ireland, Ireland. The office is appointed by the president of Ireland upon the nomination of Dáil Éireann (the lower house of the Oireachtas, Ireland's national legislature) and the office-holder must retain the support of a majority in the Dáil to remain in office. Fun Lovin' Criminals are an American rap rock band from New York City.
