Brendan McManamon
Brendan McManamon (born 1982) is a Gaelic footballer who plays for the St Jude's club and the Dublin county team. McManamon was on Dublin's winning team for the 2008 O'Byrne Cup which defeated Longford in the final.' He scored 0-1 in the game which saw Dublin win by 2-12 to 1-14. McManamon has been a Dublin senior panelist for the last three years and has many championship appearances to his name, making the first of these against Louth at Croke Park on 8 June 2008, coming on as a 61st minute sub for his boyhood hero Jason Sherlock. The highlight of McManamon's club career came in October 2009, when he was part of the Naomh Jude senior side who narrowly lost out to Ballyboden St Enda's in their first county final. Gaelic Football
Gaelic football ( ga, Peil Ghaelach; short name '), commonly known as simply Gaelic, GAA or Football is an Irish team sport. It is played between two teams of 15 players on a rectangular grass pitch. The objective of the sport is to score by kicking or punching the ball into the other team's goals (3 points) or between two upright posts above the goals and over a crossbar above the ground (1 point). Players advance the football up the field with a combination of carrying, bouncing, kicking, hand-passing, and soloing (dropping the ball and then toe-kicking the ball upward into the hands). In the game, two types of scores are possible: points and goals. A point is awarded for kicking or hand-passing the ball over the crossbar , signalled by the umpire raising a white flag. St Jude's GAA
St Jude's (Irish: ''Naomh Jude'') is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in Templeogue on the southside of Dublin. The club fields teams in all four codes of the Gaelic Athletic Association Gaelic football, Hurling, Camogie and Ladies Football. Teams are fielded from Senior Grade right down to under eight level, the club also run a very popular academy which caters for children from four years of age to seven years of age and is open to all and free of charge. The Dublin county football team represents Dublin in men's Gaelic football and is governed by Dublin GAA, the county board of the Gaelic Athletic Association. 2008 O'Byrne Cup
The 2008 O'Byrne Cup was a Gaelic football competition played by the teams of Leinster GAA. The competition differs from the Leinster Senior Football Championship as it also features further education colleges and the winning team does not progress to another tournament at All-Ireland level. Last years winners of the O'Byrne Cup were Dublin. The first game was between defending champions Dublin and Wicklow, Dublin won the game comfortably. Croke Park ( ga, Páirc an Chrócaigh, ) is a Gaelic games stadium in Dublin, Ireland. Named after Archbishop Thomas Croke, it is referred to as Croker by GAA fans and locals. It serves as both the principal national stadium of Ireland and headquarters of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). Jason Sherlock
Jason Sherlock (born 10 January 1976 in Dublin) is an Irish former Gaelic footballer who played at senior level for the Dublin county team between 1995 and 2010. He played most of his club football for Na Fianna in Glasnevin in the northern suburbs of Dublin. Sherlock was on the Na Fianna team which won the Dublin Championship in 1999, 2000 and 2001. In January 2007, he transferred to the nearby St. Oliver Plunkett GAA. Early life Sherlock was born and raised in Finglas on the northside of Dublin, the son of an Irish mother and a father from Hong Kong. He was educated at St. Vincent's C.B.S. Parnell Park
Parnell Park is a GAA stadium in Donnycarney, Dublin, Ireland with a capacity of 8,500. It is the home of the Dublin GAA hurling, football, camogie and ladies' football teams at all levels of competition. Graham Geraghty
Graham Geraghty (born 17 May 1973), is a former Gaelic footballer who played at senior level for the Meath county team. While still an inter-county player, he stood for the Fine Gael political party at the 2007 Irish general election; he was not elected. Playing career Geraghty represented his country against Australia in the International Rules Series in 1999, 2000 and 2006. Geraghty has also won an All-Ireland Minor Football Championship in 1990 and an All-Ireland Under-21 Football Championship in 1993. He has been named as the Meath Player of the Year on two occasions in 1999 and more recently in 2006. Geraghty won the Martin Donnelly Cup on four occasions with Leinster. Kevin McManamon
Kevin McManamon (born 9 December 1986) is a Gaelic footballer from Dublin who plays for the St Jude's club and was a senior member of the Dublin county team since 2010. He retired in December 2021. McManamon made his senior debut in O'Byrne Cup against Wexford. In 2010 during the league he was selected as one of the top young players as well being part of the Under 21 Dublin team that won the All-Ireland Under 21 Football Championship. In the 2011 All-Ireland Senior Football Championship, McManamon played a significant role in the semi final and final. In the semi final against Donegal, he came as a substitute with 20 minutes left in the match and scored a vital point.
