Brendan Coleman
Brendan Coleman (born 1976) is an Irish hurling selector and former player who is currently a selector with the Cork under-20 hurling team. During his playing days he lined out for club side Youghal, divisional side Imokilly and at inter-county level with the Cork senior hurling team. Youghal GAA
Youghal GAA is a Gaelic Athletic Association club based in the town of Youghal, in County Cork, Republic of Ireland, Ireland. The club fields both Hurling and Gaelic football teams and also has junior camogie and ladies football teams. The club is a member of Cork GAA and Imokilly GAA, Imokilly divisional board. History In 1891 the men of Youghal formed the Youghal GAA Football club (Cumann Luthcleas Gael Eochaill). Spearheaded by W.J. Broderick, John Collins, William Farrell, and Michael Browne as first Secretary, the foundation was laid. Organised Gaelic Football was played in Bill Farrell's Field at Frogmore. The club then transferred to Jimmy Lynch's field up towards the Asylum Cross in 1984, and to Copperalley in 1899. Gaelic handball was also played, but declined in the early-1900s, and was revived in the early-1920s, for a long period of time, when the Garda Barracks, at Catherine Street, had a ball alley. 2003 All-Ireland Intermediate Hurling Championship
The 2003 All-Ireland Intermediate Hurling Championship was the 20th staging of the All-Ireland Intermediate Hurling Championship since its establishment by the Gaelic Athletic Association in 1961. The championship ran from 18 May to 30 August 2003. Galway entered the championship as the defending champions, however, they were beaten by Cork in the All-Ireland semi-final. The All-Ireland final was played at Semple Stadium in Thurles on 30 August 2003 between Cork and Kilkenny, in what was their first ever meeting in the final. Cork won the match by 1-21 to 0-23, after extra time, to claim a fourth championship title overall and a first title in two years. Imokilly Hurlers
Imokilly ( ga, Uí Mhic Coille) is one of the baronies of Ireland, an historical geographical unit of land. Its chief town is Youghal. It is one of 24 baronies in the county of Cork. Other neighbouring baronies include Barrymore to the west (whose chief town is Midleton) and Kinnatalloon to the north (whose chief town is Conna). The barony includes most of the peninsula or land ranging from Mount Uniacke in the valley of the River Bride (in the north), to the estuary of the Munster Blackwater (in the east), to Ballycotton Bay (in the south) to Cork Harbour in the west. Munster Under-21 Hurling Championship
The Munster GAA Hurling Under-20 Championship, known simply as the Munster Under-20 Championship, is an annual inter-county hurling competition organised by the Munster Council of the Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA). It is the highest inter-county hurling competition for male players between the ages of 17 and 20 in the province of Munster. The championship was contested as the Munster Under-21 Championship between 1964 and 2018 before changing to an under-20 age category from 2019. It is sponsored by Bord Gáis Energy. The final, currently held in July, serves as the culmination of a series of games played during a three-week period, and the results determine which team receives the J. J. Munster Junior Football Championship
The Munster Junior Football Championship is a gaelic football tournament between the six counties of Munster: Cork, Kerry, Limerick, Tipperary, Clare and Waterford. It is the third-tier county teams playing off in a single-elimination tournament with 2 quarter finals instead of 4 (as of 2014). The cup was first given to the winners in 1957. Kerry have won the most titles, 42 in all. The winner will play against the champions of the other provinces in the All-Ireland Junior Football Championship. All-Ireland Junior Football Championship
The All-Ireland Junior Football Championship is a GAA competition involving four Junior Gaelic football inter-county teams. Prior to a change in competition structure in 2021, the competition was previously for all Junior Gaelic football inter-county teams in Ireland. In this previous format, the definition of what constituted a Junior player differed from county to county. In some, the junior team was the second team after the senior team. This meant that any players who had not played with the senior team could play with the junior team. In others, such as Cork and Kerry, players could only be chosen from clubs that played in junior or intermediate grades. These counties could not choose players from senior clubs, even if they were not on the senior county team. When a team won this championship, it had to pick a new team for the following year.
