Brenan Hanifee
Brenan Reese Hanifee (born May 29, 1998) is an American professional baseball pitcher for the Detroit Tigers of Major League Baseball (MLB). Career Baltimore Orioles Hanifee played baseball at Turner Ashby High School. He was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the fourth round, with the 121st overall selection, of the 2016 Major League Baseball draft. Hanifee made his professional debut in 2017 with the Low–A Aberdeen IronBirds, starting 12 games and posting a 7–3 record and 2.75 ERA with 44 strikeouts. He spent the 2018 season with the Single–A Delmarva Shorebirds, starting 23 contests and logging an 8–6 record and 2.86 ERA with 85 strikeouts across 132.0 innings pitched. In 2019, Hanifee played for the High–A Frederick Keys, making 24 appearances and registering a 9–10 record and 4.60 ERA with 78 strikeouts across 129.0 innings of work. Toledo Mud Hens
The Toledo Mud Hens are a Minor League Baseball team of the International League and the Triple-A affiliate of the Detroit Tigers. They are located in Toledo, Ohio, and play their home games at Fifth Third Field. A Mud Hens team has played in Toledo for most seasons since 1896, including a 50-year history as a member of the now defunct American Association. The current franchise was established in 1965. They joined Triple-A East in 2021, but this was renamed the International League in 2022. Background Professional baseball had been played off and on in Toledo since 1883, and the Mud Hens era began in 1896 with the "Swamp Angels", who played in the Interstate League. Ulnar collateral ligament reconstruction, colloquially known as Tommy John surgery (TJS), is a surgical graft procedure where the ulnar collateral ligament in the medial elbow is replaced with either a tendon from elsewhere in the patient's body, or with one from a deceased donor. The procedure was devised in 1974 by orthopedic surgeon Frank Jobe, a Los Angeles Dodgers team physician who served as a special advisor to the team until his death in 2014.
