Breanne Loucks
Breanne Alicia Loucks (born 16 October 1987) is a Welsh professional golfer. She had a successful amateur career, playing in two Curtis Cup matches, in 2006 and 2008. She turned professional in early 2009 and played on the Ladies European Tour until 2011 when injury curtailed her career. Amateur career In 2007, she won the Welsh Ladies' Amateur Championship, beating Tara Davies in the final. In early 2008, she won both the South African stroke-play and South African match-play championships. In June 2008, she won the Irish Women's Amateur Open Championship. Loucks first played for Wales in the Girls Home Internationals in 2002, aged 14, and made her debut in the Women's Home Internationals in 2004. She later represented Wales in the Espirito Santo Trophy and the European Ladies' Team Championship. Ladies European Tour
The Ladies European Tour is a professional golf tour for women which was founded in 1978. It is based at Buckinghamshire Golf Club near London in England. Like many UK-based sports organisations it is a company limited by guarantee, a legal structure which enables it to focus on maximising returns to its members through prize money, rather than on making profits for investors. The tour is run by a Board of Directors and a Players' Council. Most of the players on the tour are European, with members from more than 40 countries internationally. The tour operates tournaments across five continents. History The U.S.-based LPGA was founded in 1950, but women's professional golf was slower to get established in Europe. The 2008 European Ladies' Team Championship took place 8–12 July at Stenungsund Golf Club in Stenungsund, Sweden. It was the 26th women's golf amateur European Ladies' Team Championship. Venue The hosting Stenungsund Golf Club was founded in 1989. The 18-hole course, with the character of a links course with large undulated greens, situated in Spekeröd, Stenungsund Municipality, 2 kilometres from the sea and 35 kilometres north of Gothenburg, Sweden, was designed by Peter Nordwall. The 2007 European Ladies' Team Championship took place 10–14 July at Golf Club Castelconturbia in Agrate Conturbia, Italy. It was the 25th women's golf amateur European Ladies' Team Championship. The 2005 European Ladies' Team Championship took place 5–9 July at Karlstad Golf Club in Karlstad, Sweden. It was the 24th women's golf amateur European Ladies' Team Championship. Venue The hosting Karlstad Golf Club was founded in 1957. The first nine holes of the course, situated 8 kilometres north of the city center of Karlstad, the largest city in the province Värmland in Sweden, was designed by Nils Skiöld and opened in 1959. The second nine holes opened in 1968. Another nine holes, designed by Sune Linde, was completed in 1989 and made it possible to combine two of the three different nine hole courses for an 18 hole round, with par 72 on all available combinations. 2008 Espirito Santo Trophy
The 2008 Espirito Santo Trophy took place 8–11 October at The Grange Golf Club (East and West Course) in Adelaide, South Australia, Australia. It was the 23rd women's golf World Amateur Team Championship for the Espirito Santo Trophy. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event. There were a tied record 48 team entries, each with three players. Each team played two rounds at the East Course and two rounds at the West Course in different orders, but all leading teams played the fourth round at the West Course. The best two scores for each round counted towards the team total. Sweden won the Trophy for their second title and the first wire-to-wire win seen in the championship in 18 years, beating team Spain by 12 strokes. The 2006 Espirito Santo Trophy took place 18–21 October at De Zalze Golf Club and Stellenbosch Golf Club in Stellenbosch in the Western Cape province of South Africa. It was the 22nd women's golf World Amateur Team Championship for the Espirito Santo Trophy. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event. There were 42 team entries, each with two or three players. For the first time since the inaugural edition, there were team entries representing each of the countries England, Scotland and Wales and a combined team representing the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. In former championships, a combined team have represented Great Britain and Ireland. Becky Brewerton
Rebecca Dawn Brewerton (born 20 October 1982) is a Welsh professional golfer and a member of the Ladies European Tour and the LPGA Tour. Amateur career Brewerton was born in St Asaph, Wales. She had a successful amateur career. She was Welsh Girls Champion in 1997 and 1998 and Welsh Ladies' Amateur Champion in 1999 and 2001. She won the Ladies' British Open Amateur Stroke Play Championship in 1999 and 2002, a year she also won the European Ladies Amateur Championship Brewerton represented Great Britain and Ireland in the Curtis Cup in 2000, and the Vagliano Trophy in 2001 and 2003. Vagliano Trophy
The Vagliano Trophy is a biennial women's amateur golf tournament. It is co-organised by The R&A and the European Golf Association and is contested by teams representing "Great Britain and Ireland" and the "Continent of Europe". It is played in odd-numbered years; the Curtis Cup being played in even-numbered years. The event started in 1931 as a match between Great Britain and France. It was played annually from 1931 to 1939 and from 1947 to 1949, before becoming a biennial event from 1949 to 1957. Britain won 15 of the 16 matches with the 1934 match being tied. From 1949 to 1957 Great Britain had also played a biennial match against Belgium. In 1959 the two matches were replaced by one with Britain playing a team representing the Continent of Europe, the Vagliano Trophy being used for the new event.
