Brașov 2020 was a bid by the city of Brașov and the Romanian Olympic and Sports Committee to host the 2020 Winter Youth Olympics. The International Olympic Committee selected Lausanne as the host city on 31 July 2015. History Applicant City Phase Brașov's bid for the 2020 Winter Youth Olympics was confirmed on 28 November 2013. Brașov signed their Youth Olympic Game Candidature Procedure on 12 December 2013. This is the first time that Romanian city bidded for the Youth Olympic Games. Curling Venue Brașov
Curling is a sport in which players slide stones on a sheet of ice toward a target area that is segmented into four concentric circles. It is related to bowls, boules, and shuffleboard. Two teams, each with four players, take turns sliding heavy, polished granite stones, also called ''rocks'', across the ice ''curling sheet'' toward the ''house'', a circular target marked on the ice. Each team has eight stones, with each player throwing two. The goal is to accumulate the highest score for a ''game''; points are scored for the stones resting closest to the centre of the house at the conclusion of each ''end'', which is completed when both teams have thrown all of their stones once. Râșnov Ski Jump () is a ski jumping hill located within the Râșnov Sports Complex, in the Cărbunării Valley, southeast of Râșnov, Romania. It is the country's second largest ski jumping hill after the disused 110-meter Tintina. The whole ski jumping complex consists of four hills, with K-points of 90, 64, 35 and 15 meters, respectively. The 90-meter hill was designed by a Romanian architect and opened in 2012. The three other smaller hills were designed by the Austrian architect Christian Aske. History Râșnov ski jumping hill has been in existence since 1936. The newly built jumps are located on the outskirts of Râșnov, three kilometers southeast of the city center. Sinaia
Sinaia () is a town and a mountain resort in Prahova County, Romania. It is situated in the historical region of Muntenia. The town was named after the Sinaia Monastery of 1695, around which it was built. The monastery, in turn, is named after the Biblical Mount Sinai. Poiana Brașov (, ; ) is a neighborhood of Brașov and a Romanian ski resort. After the 2010s modernization, the ski area has expanded from to and the slope’s length increased from to . Most slopes now have snow cannons installed. The Brașov Olympic Ice Rink () is a multi-purpose ice rink in Brașov, Romania. Located at number 5 Turnului Street which is 5 minutes walking distance from the railway station and easily accessible by public transportation, it was opened in January 2010. Construction The construction of the rink began on 16 May 2008. The proposed location was the Sports Park (then Tractorul Park), 730 metres north-west, in the place of a disused artificial pond.
