History
The town was severely damaged during the
Battle of Predeal Pass
The Battle of Predeal Pass ( hu, Tömösi-szorosi csata) was a military engagement during the Romanian Campaign of World War I. It consisted in an attempt by the Central Powers (German Empire, Germany and Austria-Hungary) to cross the mountains ...
in World War I. Although the town itself was lost to the attacking Central Powers' forces, the battle ultimately resulted in a Romanian defensive victory.
