Brazil At The 2014 Winter Olympics
Brazil competed at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia from 7 to 23 February 2014. With 13 athletes qualified, Brazil sent its largest ever team to the Winter Olympics, surpassing the ten it qualified for the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, United States. The 13 athletes also represent the third largest team from the Americas and the biggest of non-snowing countries. Competitors *Jaqueline Mourão will also compete in cross-country skiing. Alpine skiing According to the quota allocation released on December 30, 2013, Brazil has qualified two athletes. Brazilian Olympic Committee
The Brazilian Olympic Committee or BOC ( pt, Comitê Olímpico do Brasil – COB) is the highest authority in Brazilian sport and the governing body of Brazilian Olympic sport. It was officially founded on June 8, 1914, but World War I caused its official activities to begin only in 1935. It was founded at the headquarters of the Brazilian Federation of Rowing Societies (''Federação Brasileira das Sociedades de Remo'') as an initiative from the Metropolitan League of Athletic Sports (''Liga Metropolitana de Esportes Atléticos''). The BOC has multiple sources of income, but its principal means of funding is its 2% share of all the profits from the Brazilian National Lottery and other games of chance. Maya Harrisson (born March 3, 1992) is a Swiss-Brazilian alpine skier who lives in Geneva, Switzerland. Born in Brazil, she was adopted and spent her childhood in Switzerland, where she discovered skiing. She lives in Geneva and studies at the Haute école de santé to become a Physiotherapist.
