Bravo Territory
The Bravo Territory () was a federal territory of Mexico that existed between 1914 and 1917. It was created by the decree of 17 June 1914 issued by the Congress of the United Mexican States which amended articles 43 and 44 of the Constitution of 1857, with the districts of Galeana, Bravos, and a fraction of the district of Iturbide, from the state of Chihuahua; the capital was Ciudad Juárez. The decree also created the territories of Jiménez and Morelos Morelos (), officially the Free and Sovereign State of Morelos ( es, Estado Libre y Soberano de Morelos), is one of the 32 states which comprise the Federal Entities of Mexico. It is divided into 36 municipalities and its capital city is Cuer .... With the promulgation of a new constitution on 5 February 1917, the territory was reintegrated into the state of Chihuahua. The country created territories (''territorios'') for areas too lightly populated to be states, or for political reasons. The 1824 Constitution of Mexico defined four territories. The Federal Constitution of the United Mexican States of 1857 ( es, Constitución Federal de los Estados Unidos Mexicanos de 1857), often called simply the Constitution of 1857, was the liberal constitution promulgated in 1857 by Constituent Congress of Mexico during the presidency of Ignacio Comonfort. Ratified on February 5, 1857, the constitution established individual rights, including universal male suffrage, and others such as freedom of speech, freedom of conscience, freedom of the press, freedom of assembly, and the right to bear arms. It also reaffirmed the abolition of slavery, debtors' prisons, and all forms of cruel and unusual punishment such as the death penalty.
