''Bratsberg-Demokraten'' ("The Bratsberg Democrat") was a Norwegian newspaper, published in Skien in Telemark county. From 1924 to 1929 it was named ''Telemark Kommunistblad''. ''Bratsberg-Demokraten'' was started on 7 April 1908, as the Labour Party needed an organ in the county Telemark (then named Bratsberg). On 10 January 1921 it was merged with '' Nybrott'' to form ''Folkets Dagblad'', a regional newspaper for both Telemark and Vestfold Vestfold is a traditional region, a former county and a current electoral district in Eastern Norway. Eivind Reiersen
Eivind Reiersen (11 June 1877 – 16 September 1947) was a Norwegian newspaper editor and politician for the Labour and Communist parties. He served one term as an MP, was deputy mayor of Skien, and edited the newspapers ''Fremover'', '' Ny Dag'', ''Bratsberg-Demokraten'' (a.k.a. ''Folkets Dagblad''), '' Telemark Arbeiderblad'', '' Telemark Kommunistblad'' and ''Rjukan Arbeiderblad''. Labour Party career He was born at Ringsevju in Nes in Sauherad as a son of crofters Reier Eivindsen (1853–1933) and Gunhild Olsdatter (1853–1900). The Communist Party of Norway ( no, Norges Kommunistiske Parti, NKP) is a communist party in Norway. The NKP was formed in 1923, following a split in the Norwegian Labour Party. It was Stalinist from its establishment and, as such, supported the Soviet government while opposing Trotskyism. During the Second World War, the NKP initially opposed active resistance to the German occupation, in deference to the non-aggression pact between the Soviet Union and Germany. Once Germany terminated the pact and attacked the Soviet Union, the Communist Party of Norway joined the resistance. As a result of its role in the anti-Nazi struggle, the NKP experienced a brief surge in popularity immediately after the war, but popular sympathy waned with the onset of the Cold War. ''Nybrott'' (lit. "New Clearing") was a Norwegian newspaper published in Larvik in Vestfold county, Norway. History and profile ''Nybrot'' was started on 9 September 1911 as a Labour Party newspaper. It was first weekly, was then published twice a week, then daily from 1915. On 10 January 1921 it was merged with ''Bratsberg-Demokraten'' to form ''Folkets Dagblad'', a regional newspaper for both Telemark and Vestfold, but the merger was reversed after 19 May 1922. ''Nybrot'' modernized its name to ''Nybrott'' in 1926. Skien
Skien () is a city and municipality in Vestfold og Telemark county in Norway. In modern times it is regarded as part of the traditional region of Grenland, although historically it belonged to Grenmar/Skiensfjorden, while Grenland referred the Norsjø area and Bø.
