Brantford And Hamilton Electric Railway
The Brantford and Hamilton Electric Railway (B&H, or BHER) was an interurban electric railway which operated Hamilton, Ontario. Construction was begun by the Von Echa syndicate of Harrisburg, but the railway was taken over by Dominion Power prior to its completion on June 1, 1908. According to Hilton & Due, this was the last radial (interurban) railway constructed in the Hamilton area and the only one built to a high standard. The route of the Brantford-Hamilton Electric Railway from Dundas ran parallel to the present-day Chedoke Expressway and was depicted in numerous postcards of the early 20th century. This section is now operated by the City of Hamilton as the Chedoke Radial Multi-Use Trail. The cut in the escarpment leaving a stone face on either side is a direct and physical reminder of the radial railway's importance in the city's history. Ancaster is a historic town in the city of Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, located on the Niagara Escarpment. Brantford ( 2021 population: 104,688) is a city in Ontario, Canada, founded on the Grand River in Southwestern Ontario. It is surrounded by Brant County, but is politically separate with a municipal government of its own that is fully independent of the county's municipal government. Brantford is situated on the Haldimand Tract, traditional territory of the Neutral, Mississauga, and Haudenosaunee peoples. The city is named after Joseph Brant, an important Mohawk leader, soldier, farmer and slave owner. Hamilton Radial Electric Railway
The Hamilton Radial Electric Railway (HRER) was an interurban electric railway which at its maximum extent operated between Hamilton and Oakville in Ontario, Canada. Route Between March 3, 1906 and August 3, 1925, the Hamilton Radial Electric Railway was at its maximum length of , extending from Hamilton Terminal Station to Randall Street in Oakville. From Hamilton Terminal at King and Catherine Streets, the line went via street trackage east along King Street East, north on Sanford Street and east on Wilson Street to Birch Avenue. On a private right-of-way, the line continued north on Birch Avenue and west Burlington Street to Kennilworth Avenue. At this point, the HRER left the tracks it shared with the Hamilton Street Railway. Lake Erie And Northern Railway
The Lake Erie and Northern Railway was an interurban electric railway which operated in the Grand River Valley in Ontario, Canada. The railway owned and operated a north–south mainline which ran from Galt in the north (now a part of Cambridge) to Port Dover on the shore of Lake Erie in the south. Along the way, it ran through rural areas of Waterloo County, Brant County, and Norfolk County, as well as the city of Brantford, where it had an interchange with the Brantford and Hamilton Electric Railway.
