Brandon Whiting
Brandon Renee Whiting (born July 30, 1976) is a former American football defensive end in the National Football League (NFL) who played for the Philadelphia Eagles and San Francisco 49ers. Early years Whiting played high school football at Long Beach Polytechnic High School in Long Beach, California. The high school was later named the "Sports School of the Century" by ''Sports Illustrated'' in 2005. Whiting joins many other talented graduates. Long Beach Poly boasts having sent more players to the NFL than any other high school in the country. College career Whiting, a four-year starter on the defensive line for the CAL Golden Bears, earned second-team All-Pac-10 honors as a junior and senior, and honorable mention as a freshman. He wrapped up his stellar career with 24.5 sacks, which ranks as the third-best total in school history, and ranks sixth all-time with 35 tackles for loss. Defensive end (DE) is a defensive position in the sport of gridiron football. This position has designated the players at each end of the defensive line, but changes in formation (American football), formations over the years have substantially changed how the position is played. History Early formations, with six- and seven-man line defense, seven-man lines, used the end as a containment player, whose job was first to prevent an "end run" around his position, then secondarily to force plays inside. Terrell Owens
Terrell Eldorado Owens (; born December 7, 1973), nicknamed T.O., is an American football wide receiver for the Knights of Degen of Fan Controlled Football (FCF). He previously played in the National Football League (NFL) for 15 seasons. Regarded as one of the greatest wide receivers of all time, Owens ranks third in NFL history in career receiving yards and receiving touchdowns. After playing college football and basketball at Chattanooga, Owens was selected in the third round of the 1996 NFL Draft by the San Francisco 49ers. Owens was a member of the team for seven seasons until he was traded to the Philadelphia Eagles in 2004. Two years later, he signed with the Dallas Cowboys, where he spent three seasons. The 1998 NFL draft was the procedure by which National Football League teams selected amateur college football players. It is officially known as the NFL Annual Player Selection Meeting. The draft was held April 18–19, 1998, at the Theater at Madison Square Garden in New York City. The league also held a supplemental draft after the regular draft and before the regular season. Before the draft, there was much debate in the media on if the Indianapolis Colts would select Peyton Manning or Ryan Leaf with the first overall pick. Both were considered excellent prospects and future franchise quarterbacks: Leaf was considered to have more upside and a stronger throwing arm, whereas Manning was considered a polished prospect who was NFL ready and more mature.
