Brandon Guyer
Brandon Eric Guyer (born January 28, 1986) is an American former professional baseball outfielder. He played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Tampa Bay Rays and Cleveland Indians. His knack for getting hit by pitches earned him the nickname, "La Piñata." Amateur career Guyer is a 2004 graduate of Herndon High School where he was a three-year letter winner in baseball as well as football. In football, he rushed for over 1,000 yards as a tailback for the Hornets in both his junior and senior seasons. As a senior, he set the school single-game touchdown record, scoring seven touchdowns during a 285-yard rushing performance on homecoming night (October 4, 2003, Herndon 44, West Potomac 26). Guyer helped Herndon break a six-year Northern Region playoff drought, leading the Hornets to a 7–4 season. College Baseball
College baseball is baseball that is played on the intercollegiate level at institutions of higher education. In comparison to football and basketball, college competition in the United States plays a smaller role in developing professional players, as baseball's professional minor leagues are more extensive, with a greater history of supplying players to MLB. Moving directly from high school to the professional level is more common in baseball than in football or basketball. However, if players do opt to enroll at a four-year college to play baseball, they must complete three years to regain professional eligibility, unless they reach age 21 before starting their third year of college. Players who enroll at junior colleges (i.e., two-year institutions) regain eligibility after one year at that level. Sam Fuld
Samuel Babson Fuld (born November 20, 1981) is an American former professional baseball outfielder and the current general manager of the Philadelphia Phillies. He played eight seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Chicago Cubs, Tampa Bay Rays, Oakland Athletics, and Minnesota Twins. He began his baseball career by twice batting .600 in high school, during which time ''Baseball America'' ranked him 19th in the country. Fuld played college baseball at Stanford University. Christopher Alan Archer (born September 26, 1988) is an American professional baseball pitcher who is a free agent. He has played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Tampa Bay Rays, Pittsburgh Pirates and Minnesota Twins. Archer attended Clayton High School in Clayton, North Carolina. The Tennessee Smokies are a Minor League Baseball team based in Kodak, Tennessee, a suburb of Knoxville. The team, which plays in the Southern League, is the Double-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs.
