Brandon Armstrong (born June 5, 1994) is an American professional dancer. He is currently a professional dancer and choreographer on ''Dancing with the Stars (American TV series), Dancing with the Stars''. Early life Armstrong was born and raised in California. He moved to Utah and began dancing at age 12. He trained with Mark Ballas, Corky Ballas, and Shirley Ballas. Tango is a partner dance and social dance that originated in the 1880s along the Río de la Plata, the natural border between Argentina and Uruguay. The cha-cha-cha (also called cha-cha), is a dance of Cuban origin. It is danced to the music of the same name introduced by the Cuban composer and violinist Enrique Jorrin in the early 1950s. This rhythm was developed from the danzón-mambo. The name of the dance is an onomatopoeia derived from the shuffling sound of the dancers' feet when they dance two consecutive quick steps (correctly, on the fourth count of each measure) that characterize the dance. In the early 1950s, Enrique Jorrín worked as a violinist and composer with the charanga group Orquesta América.
