Brandbu Station
Brandbu is a village in Gran Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. The village is located in Hadeland, along the eastern shore of the large lake Randsfjorden, about to the northwest of the capital city of Oslo. Brandbu and its neighboring village of Jaren have grown together through conurbation and Statistics Norway has considered them as one, single urban settlement for many years. The village of Brandbu/Jaren has a population (2021) of 4,848 and a population density of . From the top of the tall mountain Brandbukampen (originally a volcano from the Permian Period), there is a wide view of Brandbu and the villages surrounding it. The village of Egge lies at the base of the mountain, about to the northwest of Brandbu. Toten
Toten is a traditional district in Innlandet county in the eastern part of Norway. It consists of the municipalities Østre Toten and Vestre Toten. The combined population of Toten is approximately 27,000. The largest town is Raufoss with approximately 6,000 inhabitants. In the mostly rural municipality of Østre Toten, Lena is the biggest settlement with approximately 1100 inhabitants. Agriculture is an integral aspect of the economy of Toten. The agricultural focus lies mostly in Østre Toten, whereas Vestre Toten is a center for industry. In Toten, large forest areas can be found. Brandbu (municipality)
Brandbu is a former municipality in the old Oppland county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1897 until its dissolution in 1962. The area is now part of Gran Municipality in the traditional district of Hadeland. The administrative centre was the village of Brandbu. The municipality included land on both sides of the large lake Randsfjorden, although most of the municipal residents lived on the east side of the lake. History The municipality of Brandbu was established on 1 January 1897 when the old Gran Municipality was divided. The northern part (population: 4,719) became Brandbu Municipality and the southern part (population: 3,897) remained as Gran Municipality. During the 1960s, there were many municipal mergers across Norway due to the work of the Schei Committee. Nes Church (Gran)
Nes Church ( no, Nes kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Gran Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. It is located in the village of Røykenvik. It is the church for the Brandbu parish which is part of the Hadeland og Land prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Hamar. The white, wooden church was built in a cruciform design in 1730 using plans drawn up by an unknown architect. The church seats about 280 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to the year 1367, but the church was not built that year. The first church at Nes was a stone long church that was likely built during the 12th century. This church was located about to the north of the present church site. The church had a nave and chancel with a tower on the roof of the nave. The tower was damaged during the 1600s by strong winds and this caused some problems inside the church.
