Brajalal College
Government Brajalal College ( bn, সরকারি ব্রজলাল কলেজ), also known as BL College, is one of the oldest institutions of higher education in Bangladesh. It is located in Khulna, a major metropolis of the country. Govt. B L College, Khulna is an educational institution at Daulatpur in Khulna district. Babu Brajalal Chakrobarti (Shastri), a patron of education, established it first as Hindu Academy in July 1902, replicating the Hindu College that was established in Calcutta in 1816. Like the Hindu College, the Hindu Academy of Daulatpur had two branches, the Chatushpathi and the college or academy. Expenses of the Chatushpathi students including food, lodging and tuition, were borne by the institution. Only residential students were admitted at the beginning. Khulna University ( bn, খুলনা বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়) is a public university in Gollamari, Khulna, Bangladesh. It is near the river Moyur, beside the Sher e Bangla Road (Khulna-Satkhira highway). Munier Choudhury (27 November 192514 December 1971) was a Bangladeshi educationist, playwright, literary critic and political dissident. He was a victim of the 1971 killing of Bengali intellectuals, mass killing of Bangladeshi intellectuals in 1971. He was awarded Independence Day Award in 1980, by the then president Ziaur Rahman's government, posthumously. Early life and education Choudhury's ancestors were originated from Noakhali. Muhammad Mohsin
Haji Muhammad Mohsin ( – 29 November 1812) was a prominent Bengali Muslim philanthropist. His most notable contribution was to establish the Hooghly Mohsin College and the Hooghly Imambara. He also played a significant role during the Great Bengal famine of 1770 by helping thousands of the victims. Early life Mohsin was born into a Bengali Shia Muslim family to Haji Faizullah and Zainab Khanam in Hooghly (now in West Bengal, India) in 1732. He was home-schooled and gained knowledge in the study of the Quran, Hadith and the Fiqh.
