It was released posthumously on 18 November 2002, almost a year after his death at age 58, and 15 years after his previous studio album, '' Cloud Nine''. The album's overdubs were completed by his son Dhani, session drummer Jim Keltner, and longtime friend and collaborator Jeff Lynne. ''Brainwashed'' reached the top 30 in the UK and the top 20 in the US, and received mostly favourable reviews. The album includes the singles "Stuck Inside a Cloud" and "Any Road". The instrumental "Marwa Blues" went on to receive the 2004 Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Performance, while "Any Road" was nominated for Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. History Harrison began recording the tracks that eventually were issued on ''Brainwashed'' as early as 1988 (with "Any Road" being written during the making of a vid ...

Brainwashed (Devlin Song)
"Brainwashed" is a song by English rapper Devlin which features vocals from Milena Sanchez. The song, co-written by Pontus Hjelm and Emeli Sandé served as the lead single for the rapper's debut album, ''Bud, Sweat and Beers'' (2010). The track was first released as a digital download on 8 August 2010 having been added to BBC Radio 1's B Playlist the previous month. Critical reception Fraser McAlpine of BBC Chart Blog gave the song a positive review stating: Honestly, some people can be so NEEDY. I mean sure, if you're going to be a pop star, it helps to have the kind of self-regard which occasionally finds you checking out your reflection in the taps on the sink. But to actually BEG your audience to remember who you are – even to go to the lengths of spelling out your name* – and then brag that anyone who does actually bother to do this is clearly being brainwashed by your astonishing talent... Well that doesn't just take the cake. That takes the cake, the cake-dish, th ...

Brainwashed (film)
''Brainwashed'' (original title ''Schachnovelle'', "Chess Novella") is a 1960 German drama film directed by Gerd Oswald and starring Curt Jürgens, Claire Bloom and Hansjörg Felmy. It is based on Stefan Zweig's novella ''The Royal Game''. Plot Chess world champion Centowic wants to travel by ship to an important chess tournament. The ship, however, starts behind schedule, because a mysterious and obviously anxious passenger, who is on his way to the port with Bishop Ambrosse, is expected. During the trip, passengers ask grumpy Centowic to play a chess game, which he reluctantly agrees to. Centowic's opponents are about to lose the match. However, the mysterious passenger, who accidentally joins the scene, intervenes and helps them to turn the match into a draw. Centowic is amazed to not have ever seen the stranger, who, as he says, has just had his first chess piece in his hands, at any important tournament. A flashback tells the stranger's story: He is Werner von Basil, an ...

Burnt Offerings (album)
''Burnt Offerings'' is the third studio album by American heavy metal band Iced Earth. Released on April 18, 1995, it was the group's first album since 1991's ''Night of the Stormrider'', after which the band took a three-year layoff. During this time they recruited drummer Rodney Beasley and singer Matthew Barlow, replacing Rick Secchiari and John Greely, respectively. ''Burnt Offerings'' has been described as Iced Earth's heaviest and darkest record. Rhythm guitarist and main songwriter Jon Schaffer has said that the heaviness of the songs were a result of his frustration with the music industry. Schaffer's frustration is particularly evident in the title track, which talks about the problems the band had to endure during its downtime. The album is also notable for including one of the longest songs Iced Earth has ever recorded; "Dante's Inferno". Clocking in at 16 minutes and 26 seconds, "Dante's Inferno" is based on the ''Inferno'' segment of Dante Alighieri's epic poem, th ...

Brainwashing
Brainwashing (also known as mind control, menticide, coercive persuasion, thought control, thought reform, and forced re-education) is the concept that the human mind can be altered or controlled by certain psychological techniques. Brainwashing is said to reduce its subjects' ability to think critically or independently, to allow the introduction of new, unwanted thoughts and ideas into their minds, as well as to change their attitudes, values and beliefs. The term "brainwashing" was first used in English by Edward Hunter in 1950 to describe how the Chinese government appeared to make people cooperate with them. Research into the concept also looked at Nazi Germany, at some criminal cases in the United States, and at the actions of human traffickers. In the late 1960s and 1970s, there was considerable scientific and legal debate, as well as media attention, about the possibility of brainwashing being a factor when Lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD) was used, or in the conversi ...

Arthur (Or The Decline And Fall Of The British Empire)
Arthur is a common male given name of Brythonic origin. Its popularity derives from it being the name of the legendary hero King Arthur. The etymology is disputed. It may derive from the Celtic ''Artos'' meaning “Bear”. Another theory, more widely believed, is that the name is derived from the Roman clan '' Artorius'' who lived in Roman Britain for centuries. A common spelling variant used in many Slavic, Romance, and Germanic languages is Artur. In Spanish and Italian it is Arturo. Etymology The earliest datable attestation of the name Arthur is in the early 9th century Welsh-Latin text ''Historia Brittonum'', where it refers to a circa 5th to 6th-century Briton general who fought against the invading Saxons, and who later gave rise to the famous King Arthur of medieval legend and literature. A possible earlier mention of the same man is to be found in the epic Welsh poem ''Y Gododdin'' by Aneirin, which some scholars assign to the late 6th century, though this is still a mat ...
