Braeside is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 25 km south-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Kingston local government area. Braeside recorded a population of 25 at the . Braeside is a largely industrial suburb with little residential areas. History Braeside Post Office opened on 15 October 1915 and closed in 1972. Today Braeside is a primarily industrial suburb bordered on its north by Lower Dandenong Road, on the east by Springvale Road, on the west by Boundary Road and to the south by Mordialloc Creek. On the south it is also bordered by Governor Road becoming Hutton Road towards Keysborough. Beyond these limits there is a new subdivision called Waterways. The electoral district of Keysborough was an electoral district of the Victorian Legislative Assembly in Australia. It was created in the redistribution of electoral boundaries in 2013, and came into effect at the 2014 state election. Braeside Park
Braeside Park is a metropolitan, recreational and conservation park in the south-eastern Melbourne suburb of Braeside. History Before European settlement, the Bunurong people lived in and around the area for thousands of years. In 1851, the Colony of Victoria was established after separation from New South Wales; leases leases held by squatters were withdrawn and the land was surveyed, divided into portions and auctioned. The park since had a history of various owners and land uses. In 1982, Parks Victoria, assumed responsibility for Braeside park. Geography The park's natural environment includes wetlands, heathlands and red gum woodlands. The City of Springvale was a local government area about southeast of Melbourne, the state capital of Victoria, Australia. The city covered an area of , and existed from 1857 until 1994.
