Brady Watt
Brady Watt (born 9 May 1990) is an Australian professional golfer from Perth, Western Australia. He was the number one ranked golfer in the World Amateur Golf Ranking for one week in June 2013. Watt was the medalist in the 2013 Australian Amateur held at Woodlands, Victoria. He was also on the winning Ten Nations Cup team earlier that year. Watt won his first professional event in 2021 at the inaugural Sandbelt Invitational played in Melbourne, Australia. Perth is the capital and largest city of the Australian state of Western Australia. Australian Amateur Stroke Play
The Australian Amateur is the national amateur golf championship of Australia. It has been played annually since 1894, except for the war years, and is organised by Golf Australia. Having traditionally been a match play event, from 2021 it has been a 72-hole stroke play event, having last been played as a stroke play event in 1907. Originally played as the "Victorian Golf Cup" at Melbourne Golf Club, the championship was taken over by the Australian Golf Union in 1899. In its early years, a variety of formats were used but from 1908 to 2020 it was a match play event, generally with a stroke play qualifying stage. The winner receives the Challenge Cup, donated by Lord Forster, the Governor-General of Australia, and first presented to Legh Winser, the 1921 winner. Oliver Goss (born 12 April 1994) is an Australian professional golfer. He is from Fremantle, Western Australia. Goss won the 2012 John Hughes Geely Nexus Risk Services Western Australia Open Championship on the PGA Tour of Australasia while still an amateur. Goss was runner-up in the 2013 U.S. Amateur. He was the only amateur golfer to make the cut at the 2014 Masters Tournament and thus received low amateur honors. The Western Australian Open, also known as the WA Open, is a golf tournament on the PGA Tour of Australasia. It had been a tour event every year since 2009 with the exception of 2019. History The first Western Australian Amateur Championship was held in 1911. This consisted of a 36-hole stroke-play qualification stage, played in a single day, followed by match-play to determine the champion. The leading four players in the stroke-play qualified in 1911, increasing to 8 in 1912. In 1913 the stroke-play stage was opened up to professionals, becoming the first Western Australian Open Championship. It was played at the Fremantle links on 28 August, nearly 30 players competing. Jediah Morgan (born 30 November 1999) is an Australian professional golfer who currently plays on the PGA Tour of Australasia and LIV Golf League. He won the Fortinet Australian PGA Championship in 2022 and also won the 2021–22 PGA Tour of Australasia Order of Merit. Amateur career In January 2020, Morgan won the Australian Amateur, beating Northern Irishman Tom McKibbin (golfer), Tom McKibbin 5 and 3 in the final. The Riversdale Cup is the second oldest amateur golf tournament in Australia. It is a Golf Australia national ranking event. The event has been played since 1896 and is organised by and played at the Riversdale Golf Club in Mount Waverley, Victoria. It was known as the Surrey Hills Gentlemen's Championship, Gold Medal from 1896 to 1907, the Riversdale Trophy from 1909 to 1926, and the Riversdale Cup since 1928.
