Cream is a dairy product composed of the higher-fat layer skimmed from the top of milk before homogenization. In un-homogenized milk, the fat, which is less dense, eventually rises to the top. Amarula is a cream liqueur from South Africa. It is made with sugar, cream and the fruit of the African Sclerocarya birrea, marula tree (''Sclerocarya birrea'') which is also locally called the elephant tree or the marriage tree.
