Bradley Plain
Bradley Plain (born 25 September 1969) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for Essendon, Collingwood and North Melbourne in the Australian Football League (AFL). Born in Tasmania, Plain played his early football with TFL Statewide side North Hobart before crossing to fellow TFL club Clarence. Recruited by Essendon, Plain kicked 27 goals for Essendon in the 1989 VFL season and took part in their finals campaign, which ended in the Preliminary Final. He bettered that tally in 1991 with 28 goals, including an eight-goal haul in a win over Sydney at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG). This performance earned him three Brownlow Medal votes, one of two occasions he received best on ground honour during his career with the other coming for a 34 disposals game against St Kilda in 1989. North Hobart Football Club
The North Hobart Football Club, nicknamed ''The Demons'', is an Australian rules football club which plays in the Tasmanian State League. The club returned to the state league in 2018 after its position was effectively filled by a new club, the Hobart City Football Club after the 2013 season. The club (i.e. North Hobart) was part of the Tasmanian Football League from the early 1900s through to 2001, where the club joined Southern Football League. In 2009, the club was invited into the second reincarnation of the statewide league where it remained until 2013. In 2014, the North Hobart Football Club Inc. changed from an incorporated body to a company limited with 100% ownership of the Hobart City Football Club, with the Hobart City Demons now the trading name of North Hobart Football Club Ltd. 1994 AFL Season
The 1994 AFL season was the 98th season of the Australian Football League (AFL), the highest level senior Australian rules football competition in Australia, which was known as the Victorian Football League until 1989. The season featured fifteen clubs, ran from 26 March until 1 October, and comprised a 22-game home-and-away season followed by a finals series featuring the top eight clubs – an increase from the six clubs which had contested the finals in previous years. The 1988 Adelaide Bicentennial Carnival was the 22nd edition of the Australian National Football Carnival, an Australian rules football State of Origin competition. Australia was celebrating its Bicentenary in 1988, so the carnival was known as the 'Bicentennial Carnival'. It took place over four days from 2 March until 5 March, and the matches were played at Football Park and Norwood Oval. Ten teams were involved, including all the states and territories, making it the most heavily contested competition. They were divided into two sections. South Australia, Victoria, Western Australia and New South Wales were in Section One. Australian rules football in Tasmania (known locally as "football"), has been played since the late 1870s and draws the largest audience for a football code in the state. While support for the Australian Football League competition remains in the state, and population growth has exceeded the national average, Australian rules football at the grassroots has been in freefall since 2006.
