Bradley (formerly North Kankakee) is a village in Kankakee County, Illinois, United States. It is a suburb of the city of Kankakee. The population was 15,895 at the 2010 census, up from 12,784 at the 2000 census. Bradley is a principal city of the Kankakee–Bradley Metropolitan Statistical Area, which includes all of Kankakee County. The county is also part of the larger Chicago–Naperville– Michigan City, IL- IN- WI Combined Statistical Area. Geography Bradley is located in north-central Kankakee County at (41.146332, -87.859123). It is bordered to the south by the city of Kankakee and to the west by the village of Bourbonnais. Kroehler Manufacturing Company was a furniture company and was originally incorporated as the Naperville Lounge Company, on March 9, 1893. It was founded by ten original stockholders. In 1896, Peter Kroehler, an employee, offered to purchase the stockholder's interest at its book value. The offer was taken, and at the beginning of 1896 a new group of four partners took over the business. In 1897, the company found a new headquarters next to the C. B. & Q tracks in Naperville IL. On April 6, 1903, Peter Kroehler was made president of the company. On April 1, 1915, the name "Kroehler Manufacturing Company" was adopted, as the company had four factories now operating under various names, which was inconvenient. David Bradley (plowman)
David Bradley (November 8, 1811 – February 19, 1899) was an American businessman and a pioneer plowman. Biography David Bradley was born in Groton, New York on November 8, 1811. After working with his brother, C. C. Bradley, for several years in Syracuse, he relocated to Chicago in 1835. Initially he was in the employ of Jones, King & Co. and helped to build the first foundry in Chicago, known as the "Chicago Furnace". From the late 1830s until the 1850s David Bradley farmed in Lake County, Illinois, made bricks, and later farm machinery, in Racine, Wisconsin, and was a lumberman in Michigan. Illinois Route 50 (IL 50) is a north–south state road in northeastern Illinois. It runs from the junction with U.S. Route 45 (US 45) and U.S. Route 52 (US 52) in West Kankakee north to US 41 in Skokie. In Chicago and the suburbs it's known as Cicero Avenue. Before this, Cicero Avenue was previously known as 48th Avenue, owing to its City of Chicago address of 4800 West. Route description IL 50 begins in Kankakee at an intersection with Southeast Avenue ( US 45/US 52) and heads north as Schuyler Avenue. Interstate 57 (I-57) is a north–south Interstate Highway in Missouri and Illinois that parallels the old Illinois Central Railroad for much of its route. It runs from Sikeston, Missouri, at I-55 to Chicago, Illinois, at I-94. Bourbonnais, Illinois
Bourbonnais ( ) is a village in Kankakee County, Illinois, United States. The population was 18,164 at the 2020 census. History The village is named for François Bourbonnais Sr., a fur trapper, hunter and agent of the American Fur Company, who had married a Native American woman and arrived in the area near the fork of two major Indian trails and the Kankakee River circa 1830. John Jacob Astor had founded the company in 1808, and when the United States banned foreign (i.e. British and Canadian) companies (such as the Hudson's Bay Company) from competing in the country after the War of 1812, it flourished.
