Brad Winchester
Bradley A. Winchester (born March 1, 1981) is an American former professional ice hockey Winger (ice hockey), left winger. He was selected in the second round of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft, 35th overall, by the Edmonton Oilers. Playing career Winchester spent two seasons with the U.S. National Team Development Program, then moved to his hometown University of Wisconsin–Madison, where he played for four seasons. At six feet, five inches tall and 228 pounds, was the largest player the Oilers had drafted since the 1995 NHL Entry Draft. In December 2000, Winchester participated in the World Junior Hockey Championship with the United States, finishing in fourth position. Winchester made his professional debut in the 2003–04 NHL season, 2003–04 American Hockey League season, playing for Edmonton's farm affiliate, the Toronto Roadrunners. Winger (ice Hockey)
Winger, in the game of ice hockey, is a forward position of a player whose primary zone of play is along the outer playing areas. They typically flank the centre forward. Originally the name was given to forward players who went up and down the sides of the rink. Wingers generally have the least defensive responsibilities out of any position on the ice, however they are still tasked with defensive duties such as forechecking duties or covering the point in the defensive zone. Nowadays, there are different types of wingers in the game — out-and-out goal scorers, checkers who disrupt the opponents, and forwards who work along the boards and in the corners. 2004–05 NHL Lockout
The 2004–05 NHL lockout was a labor lockout that resulted in the cancellation of the National Hockey League (NHL) season, which would have been its 88th season of play. The main dispute was the league's desire to implement a salary cap to limit expenditure on player salaries, which was opposed by the NHL Players Association (NHLPA), the players' labor union, who proposed an alternative system of revenue sharing. Attempts at collective bargaining before the season began were unsuccessful. The lockout was initiated on September 16, 2004, one day after the expiration of the existing collective bargaining agreement (CBA), which itself had been the result of the 1994–95 lockout. The Calgary Flames are a professional ice hockey team based in Calgary. The Sports Network (TSN) is a Canadian English language discretionary sports specialty channel owned by the Sports Network Inc., a subsidiary of CTV Specialty Television, which is also a joint venture of Bell Media (70%), also owned by BCE Inc. and ESPN Inc.
