Brad R. Smith (born 3 December 1948) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with North Melbourne in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the 1970s. He also had a long career in the West Australian National Football League (WANFL) where he played for East Perth and coached East Fremantle. Smith was a late comer to VFL football as he had spent eight years at East Perth before joining North Melbourne. The East Perth Football Club, nicknamed the Royals, is an Australian rules football club based in Leederville, Western Australia, current playing in the West Australian Football League (WAFL). Formed in 1902 as the Union Football Club, the club entered the WAFL in 1906, changing its name to East Perth. It won its first premiership in 1919, part of a streak of five consecutive premierships. North Melbourne Football Club
The North Melbourne Football Club, nicknamed the Kangaroos, is a professional Australian rules football club. The men's team competes in the Australian Football League (AFL), and the women's team in the AFL Women's (AFLW). The Kangaroos also field a reserves men's team in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Founded in the suburb of North Melbourne in 1869 and based at the Arden Street Oval, it is the 4th oldest club in the competition and one of the oldest surviving clubs in the world. The 1974 VFL Grand Final was an Australian rules football game contested between the Richmond Football Club and North Melbourne Football Club, held at the Melbourne Cricket Ground in Melbourne on 28 September 1974. It was the 77th annual grand final of the Victorian Football League, staged to determine the premiers for the 1974 VFL season. Grant Dorrington
Grant Stephen Dorrington OAM BEM (born 15 April 1948) is an Australian rules football administrator who is a former player and coach. Playing career Dorrington played 45 matches for in the Western Australian National Football League (WANFL) between 1967 and 1972. Dorrington's premature retirement came after doctors advised him to stop playing after a series of knocks to the head in early 1972. Coaching and administration career Dorrington joined the coaching ranks in the late 1970s and was assistant to Barry Cable when East Perth won the 1978 WANFL Grand Final. In 1980, Dorrington was appointed head coach of East Perth, serving two seasons. Dorrington returned to coaching in 1985 when he was coach of the Western Australian team at the Teal Cup. The 1980 Adelaide State of Origin Carnival was the 21st Australian National Football Carnival, an Australian rules football competition. It was just the second carnival to take place under the State of Origin format. Four states took part, the hosts South Australia, Tasmania, Victoria and the reigning carnival champions Western Australia.
