Bracken Ridge Ward
The Bracken Ridge Ward is a Brisbane City Council ward covering Bracken Ridge, Bald Hills, Carseldine, Fitzgibbon, and parts of Aspley and Zillmere. The ward has been represented by Amanda Cooper of the Liberal National Party since 2007. Amanda Cooper resigned in October 2019 to contest the District of Aspley in the 2020 QLD Election for the LNP. History Liberal councillor Carol Cashman was elected in 1997, and re-elected in 2000 and 2004. Cashman resigned in 2007, and Amanda Cooper was appointed to the casual vacancy. The Liberal National Party of Queensland (LNP) is a major political party in Queensland, Australia. It was formed in 2008 by a merger of the Queensland divisions of the Liberal Party and the National Party. At a federal level and in most other states, the two parties remain distinct and operate as a Coalition. The LNP is a division of the Liberal Party of Australia, and an affiliate of the National Party of Australia. 2020 Brisbane City Council Election
Elections to Brisbane City Council were held on Saturday 28 March 2020 to elect a councillor to each of the local government area's 26 wards and the direct election of the Lord Mayor of Brisbane. The election resulted in the re-election of the Liberal National Party under Adrian Schrinner as Lord Mayor and the Liberal National Party with a majority council. In the Lord Mayoral election, Adrian Schrinner and the Liberal National Party was declared the winner after defeating Pat Condren and the Labor Party on a two-party-preferred basis - 56.3% to 43.7%. In the ward elections, there were no changes to the representation of the 26 wards, with the Liberal National Party retaining the 19 wards they previously held, the Labor Party retaining the 5 wards they previously held, along with the Greens and Independents each retaining their single wards. Elections to Brisbane City Council were held on Saturday, 28 April 2012 to elect a councillor to each of the local government area's 26 wards and the direct election of the Lord Mayor of Brisbane. The election resulted in a landslide re-election of the Liberal National Party (previously represented in Queensland as the Liberal Party), increasing their representation by two wards. The incumbent Lord Mayor, Graham Quirk, was elected to his first full-term with a substantial 68.3% of the two-party-preferred vote. 2008 Brisbane City Council Election
The 2008 Brisbane City Council election was held on 15 March 2008 to elect a lord mayor and 26 councillors to the City of Brisbane. The election was held as part of the statewide local government elections in Queensland, Australia. The election resulted in the re-election of Campbell Newman of the Liberal Party as Lord Mayor, defeating Labor's Greg Rowell in a landslide with 66.1% of the mayoral two-party-preferred vote. The Liberals also won control of the council chambers, taking 5 wards from Labor for a total of 16 to Labor's 10. Elections of the Brisbane City Council in Queensland, Australia, were held on Saturday, 27 March 2004 to elect a councillor to each of the local government area's 26 wards and the direct election of the Lord Mayor of Brisbane. Liberal Party Of Australia (Queensland Division)
The Liberal Party of Australia (Queensland Division), branded as Liberal Queensland, was the Queensland division of the Liberal Party of Australia until 2008. It was initially formed in October 1943 as the Queensland People's Party (QPP), which then absorbed the disbanded Queensland branch of the United Australia Party in 1944. In 1945, the QPP had an agreement with the newly formed Liberal Party, where in the "federal sphere", QPP would be the Queensland division of the Liberal Party and would run its candidates under the Liberal Party banner in federal elections. The 2020 Queensland state election was held on 31 October to elect all 93 members to the Legislative Assembly of Queensland. The Labor Party was returned to government for a third-term, led by incumbent premier Annastacia Palaszczuk. Zillmere is a suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , Zillmere had a population of 8,967 people. Geography As at 2008, Zillmere was approximately 60% residential and 40% industrial. History The Turrbal people occupied the region north of Brisbane River, including the area covered by Zillmere. With European settlement, the area came to be known as Zillman's Waterholes, named after Johann Leopold Zillmann (1813–1892), a Lutheran missionary who served at the mission station nearby at Nundah. In January 1872, the Brisbane Courier described Zillman's Waterholes as being situated between Cabbage Tree Creek and Downfall Creek. Bracken Ridge is a northern suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. In the , Bracken Ridge had a population of 16,936 people. Geography The suburb is located about north of the Brisbane central business district. The southern border is formed by Telegraph Road, one of the oldest roads in the suburb, and a portion of the western border is formed by the Caboolture railway line. Geography Aspley is located about north and about a half-hour drive north of the Brisbane central business district. It is positioned on flat ground south of Cabbage Tree Creek, centred on Little Cabbage Tree Creek and on the surrounding hills to the east and south.
