John Brace (born c. 1578) was an English politician who sat in the House of Commons from 1604 to 1611. Brace was the son of Philip Brace of Worcestershire. He matriculated at Exeter College, Oxford on 8 November 1594 aged 16. John Thurlow Brace
John Thurloe Brace (born c. 1685) of Astwood, Buckinghamshire was a British landowner and politician who sat in the House of Commons between 1715 and 1728. Brace was the eldest surviving son of Francis Brace, an attorney of Bedford, and his second wife Anne Thurloe, daughter of John Thurloe, who was secretary to Oliver Cromwell. He was educated at Bedford School and was admitted at Trinity College, Cambridge on 8 January 1702, aged 16. He was admitted at Inner Temple in 1705. He succeeded his father in 1712 and inherited the estate of Astwood, near Bedford, through his mother. Before 1716, he married Anna Maria Harris. Brace, was returned as a Whig Member of Parliament for Bedford at the 1715 general election and voted with the Administration in all recorded divisions. William Francis Brace
William Francis Brace (26 August 1926, Littleton, New Hampshire – 2 May 2012) was an American geophysicist. Career Education Brace matriculated in 1943 at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and after 1944–1946 service in the Navy, graduated with bachelor's degrees in 1946 in naval architecture and in 1949 in civil engineering. In 1953 he received his PhD from MIT's department of geology and geophysics. In 1953–1954 he was a Fulbright scholar at Bruno Sander's laboratory in Austria. Work at MIT In 1955 he became an assistant professor at MIT and was from 1976 to 1981 MIT's Cecil and Ida Green Professor of Geology, retiring in 1988 as professor emeritus. William Brace
William Brace (23 September 1865 – 12 October 1947) was a Welsh trade unionist and Liberal and Labour politician. Early life and career Born in Risca, in the coal-mining district of Monmouthshire, he was one of six children of Thomas and Anne Brace. Brace briefly attended school before starting work at the local colliery, aged 12. He later worked at Celynnen and Abercarn collieries He soon involved himself in trade union activities and politics and in 1890 was elected the local agent for the Monmouthshire Miners' Association. He was also elected to Monmouthshire County Council. Trade Union career Brace was an early advocate of a single union for all of Britain's colliers, an issue in which he clashed with William Abraham (Mabon). Following the Welsh coal strike of 1898 the Miners' Association became part of the new South Wales Miners' Federation, and Brace was elected its first vice-president. Onllwyn Brace
David Onllwyn Brace (16 November 1932 - 4 July 2013) was a Welsh international scrum-half who played club rugby for Newport and Aberavon. He won nine caps for Wales and would captain the team twice in the early 1960s. Brace was an exciting, unorthodox scrum-half, who epitomised the Welsh flair scrum-half, though his uneven international appearances point towards unhappiness in his match play from the Welsh selectors. Rugby career Brace first played rugby for Aberavon but moved to Newport after the club tried to play him in the unfamiliar role of outside-half to Cliff Ashton.
